Connally & Furner is not playing for peanuts
add senior new Aussie Signings,to this and more We do not know about.

Can anybody enlighten Me on this matter
Price Cap
salary cap
No evidence hear Ken, just a gut feeling that maybe the reason why Wigan 'can't' buy any new players this season is down to the greed of mr Whelan and Mr Lindsey, because I am sure the clubs financial position cannot be that far short of the likes of Saints and Leeds. Does anyone know different?

i`m pretty sure what jilly43 is saying is actually gonna be close!
personal greed,
in so many other sports now, teams are either abusing the cap or saving money by cutting squad sizes!
my only question would be, why didn`t we rework there contracts so that they could stay?
there are ways around it, it is simple.. so i have to agree, personal greed seems to be the reason!
we should get behind the squad we have, even though there is a lot of youth in it, i like that, & at least the player want to play for wigan,... not just coming for the amounts of cash they could obtain! LOL

In my opinion the reason we have had to comply this year is because we're the most high-profile team and it was well-known that we were well over the £1.8m last year (hence why we had the special dispensation for the season).
In previous years we've been accused of breaking the salary cap, perhaps at times justified but certainly not in the first year when it was announced that Wigan were safely within the limits (if I remember correctly we were the only team quoted as being ok), but such is our reputation for being big-spenders that we are having to have a couple of years of obviously following the rules. Eventually other teams will decide they can't criticise us, whilst at the same time their own situations will come under more and more scrutiny.
As for Leeds, Morley won't be back this year anyway and I've no idea how long they signed Connolly and Furner for. If they are both on one-year deals then they'll be gone next year and there will be money for Morley. However, I'm more interested in the rumours they are trying to tempt Spotty Harris back early from his time playing Yawnion. That's more likely to lead to a salary cap infringment.

cap
wow! i didn`t know the cap was so low!
i thought it was around the 3 mill mark...
it does seem that our reputation does proceed us, & therefore people assume we are all ways over the cap!
thanx for that info... & i`m just abot to head out the door and make my may up to the jjb,
hopefully we will play well today & not be complacent!

Are we missing out on our League/Union connections?
Obviously Leeds are using theirs to advantage with no Union Cap in place.
I thought that the Orrell link was for the same reason.
So far it has has lost us Connolly for nothing.

whelan
from what i have heard, it is not a case of Mr Whelan throwing money after money year in year out. it is more a case of here is "X" pounds for this seasons squad - work with that
which is sound business sense from whelan in many ways but @ the same time, it could lead to a point in a year or two, when he must buy us morley, johns et all calibre players if the young players dont develop as they are expected to
