Leaving JJB

Post by kirky »

I have (yet again) been receiving strong rumours on the jungle drums that the almighty DW is building a new 15000 capacity ground at Orrell for us and the Union team should Lactics be promoted.
Is there any more validity to this claim than any of the previous?
Do you think we should go?
Do we get a choice?

stadium move???

Post by Vicki »

Almost certainly wild rumour (although I have no solid evidence!). DW would be doing himself a dis-service by moving us to a 15 000 seater stadium. We've still got better crowds at the JJB for the most part, and we're capable of getting more than 15 000 for the biggies against Saints etc. Also, if Latics go straight back down again he'd have lost a whole pile of cash building the second stadium for no reason.

not a chance

we wont leave the JJB, these are IMO unfounded rumours, the money he will have to spend for latics to survive in division 1 let alone get promoted will stop him building a new stadium if nothing else

New Stadium

Post by scrumdown »

I can not see why dw would want to build another stadia, the rumur that grounds can not be shared in the premier league seem unfounded.

Charlton and London and Fulham and QPR are or have shared grounds.

new stadium and money

Post by Fraggle »

There's one other thing which is being overlooked, and that is a new stadium would also require a new staff, plus inevitably a new JJB store close by. New stadia aren't exactly cheap so I think he'd have to be totally mad to want to build another one when he already has one perfectly good stadium for us to use.

If nothing else, having us means there is money coming into the JJB Stadium 12 months of the year, otherwise from May to late August there's nothing at all going on and an empty stadium is not much use when you want profits.
