Pitch invasions

Post by MrsLam »

I went watching Latics on Monday and at the end there was a pitch invasion, and the stewards didnt make much effort, especially not in the north stand whereI was, to stop anyone going on the pitch. However at the rugby, whenever any little kid stands up they get told to sit down again. Doesnt it say that its a criminal offence to go on the pitch??? Seeing as it was against Oldham too (dirty gets) then why was there no effort to stop any kind of pitch invasion?
Apparently its not only the second time its happened this season either.

I thought it was a criminal offence for any self respecting Red to been seen at the Latics.

So who was doing the invading? The Wigan fans or the Oldham fans and what for? If Wigan, was it to celebrate going up? If Oldham were they invading the pitch looking for trouble? Come to think of it, was it the Wigan fans invading the pitch looking for trouble?

If Latics had just won something, I assume fans were invading the pitch to celebrate and the stewards were allowing it because it was historic or whatever. So presumably next time we win something we'll be allowed to go charging across it messing up the turf as well! Or does the same rule not apply to us lowly RL fans?

It was wigan fans who invaded the pitch and they went over to the oldham fans and were singing to them to try to wind them up. :|! and latics already knew they were going up and already knew they'd won the championship by that match, so it didn't really mean anything other than another 3 points, I suppose the only special thing about it was that if they get 102 points at the end of their season they break another record.
Oh and no they same rule doesnt apply to us rugby fans because according to latics fans, the rugby fans are the ones what cause trouble..........hmmm

i have been to many a rugby game and never seen any pitch invasion. Maybe us rugby fans are just to well behaved, and i am proud of that fact.

In the north stand the kids were singing 5 minutes from the end that they were going on the pitch and still the stewards did nothing. Every other stand had loadsa stewards bar the north. To be honest no harm was caused (to my knowledge) so i dont think that it needs all the fuss. Ok so they may have flattened the grass a bit but if you think what damage 26 15 stone + men do to it each week!

Gotta say though Oldham did have one brave sole that tryed to streak unsuccesfully. Imagine doing it 5 mins from time when all the stewards are at the front mind u it was his own fault he couldnt get his trousers down and tripped over them flat on his face! lol !!!!!

Haha I watched him run down the steps and jump over that board and so did the stewards and only after he was on the pitch, they rugby tackled him!!
To be fair to Oldham they didnt cause much trouble, there were some really racist men walking behind me on my way home but they shut up when no one took them on.
And we are well behaved fans arent we!
