match fixing ?
match fixing ?
On may way home from Hull last week, i bumped into three salford fans who felt that their match against Cas had been fixed so that Wigan are sure to be relegated. I didn't take them seriously at first but given our game and the ref's bad decisions and now a defeat by Saint's to Huddersfield i am begining to wonder.

If we all knew the results before hand there would be no point in going/viewing.wigan_twins posted:

Do you really think that if this were true, the likes of Lindsey, Whelan and Noble would just keep quiet? - NO THEY WOULD NOT!!
Whelan would love to spout off if there was a any chance of curruption in RL so this answers the conspiracy issue full stop.

Re: match fixing ?
I think the RFL want wigan to be relegated to NL1 because Wigan have media attention were ever they go if they go to NL1 then the Nation League gets media attention which is what the RFL have wanted for a long time.
For the RFL it is all about the money, not a fair competition so if they could make a profit out of Wigan being relegated i am 100% sure they will cash in.

Re: match fixing ?
The RFL would not profit if Wigan were relegated. They are still one of the biggest crowd pullers on TV and at live matches, but this would all end if relegated

RFL would still get money form live matches with or without Wigan in the Super League. They might lose abit of money if crowds drop at Wigan but that is a small price to pay if crowds in the NL1 increase because Wigan are there.NTA1 posted:

Re: match fixing ?
So we've one rumour that the RFL want Wigan relegated and there's another rumour that says the RFL will do anything to keep us in Super League. I think they both lack a bit of substance.
You could say... If Wigan finish bottom they will be relegated because the clubs will not want to divide their share of the SKY money with another club. Don't forget the RFL is funded by each club (membership fee and a percentage of the gate receipts) and the chairmen have some political power over what happens.
You could also say... If Wigan finish bottom the RFL will want them to stay up because they are guaranteed a greater figure from their portion of gate receipts. However, if they frig things in order that a big club stays up what message does this send to the smaller clubs that have been relegated in the past... the RFL don't care about you.
