You really ought not be so churlish!Schalk Brits... posted:
Biggest load of b*ll*cks I've ever seen-it's the last thing our players need to see. There are about 20 tackles on that video spanned over about 20 years! What you don't see is how many tackles have been missed and players made fools of by defenders rushing out of the line to make a 'big shot'.
I believe the link has been posted before, but we have some new, younger posters that the link may appeal to and have obviously not seen this before on here.
And off you go again spouting your "coaching" rubbish!
Most if not all the tackles took place within the defensive line on 1 to 1 situations, just the sort of thing that our team fails to do week in week out as teams just run through us.

I think it would be a good idea to ask Dennis Boyd to come down and give the lads a few tips, for those of the younger generation, he was the best pound for pound tackler in the game and regularly put men twice his size on their *rses!
Bring back Shaun Edwards

Spot on. The video shows in many of the tackles that if you hit low and hard the offload won't happen.Doveoverdave posted:

Our lot seem obsessed with tackling around the shoulders presumably to prevent the offload. The first man in seems to always do this and more often then not it does not halt the progress of the player and they can still get the ball away as most of our players are not strong enough to win the fight.
In the video you see all the attacking players are running from deep at pace and get absolutely nailed one-on-one with no chance to offload. We have no defence against players running from deep at pace at the moment.
If Lockers put in a hit like some of these instead of his current high tackling technique the tackled player would certainly know about it.
Brown should study it and never attampt a tackle above the waist again!

Then why doesn't he do it on the pitch in the match?ancientnloyal posted:

Brown should never try the ball-an-all tackle IMO as he just doesn't have the strength and size to do it. If he put in low hits like that he would make up for his lack of weight and have everyone raving about his tackling.

Re: more like this
I was only joking, ive never been to a training match (if you could go to one).
I am not the biggest of people and when I was playing rugby the key thing for me was to go for the legs, the cvant move without legs... so i always hit low. Thats all you need if you aren't that big of a player.
