Saints @ JJB 27th: Crowd record???

Post by ancientnloyal »

Do you think the game versus St Helens on the 27th of this great special month of May will equal or perhaps break the 25,004 set last year? Ticket sales are already over 10,000 with around 16 days still to go. Im guessing most of the 10,000 are sold to the saints fans, say, 5,000 at least? wigan season ticket holders, around 5,000* again? (i dont know season ticket numbers)...

i reckon 23,000 will turn up, if wigan keep losing, if we beat wakefield and salford in the cup then it'll be close to 25,004... just shows that wigan can still attract the fans!

I thought that this was a sell out so technically we couldnt beat it ?

From the stadium website www.jjbstadium.co.uk
The Stadium design is based on counter levered prefabricated steel roof and terrace structuring and the maximum seating capacity is 24826.
Has the capacity been reduced because of that thing with the old front row being used for advertising?

In any case, there'll be one less than usual as I'm at a wedding that day (why do people never check the fixture lists before getting married? I've got some more friends getting married the day of the Bradford home match on 1st September...)

think the latics pulled 25,017 at one point. anyway they set two new stadium records this season just passed. although they still didnt reach the theoretical stadium capacity.
So what is the current capacity of the JJB? I'm assuming the number I got from the stadium website that I quoted above is now out-of-date...

But I'd also heard, as you said, that the capacity had been increased rather than decreased since the 25004 crowd we got, despite the loss of the front row, because they'd filled in some gaps elsewhere. Typical JJB not keeping their information current!

The greatest attendance at the JJB was for Latics -v- Liverpool, which was watched by 25,023.

Maybe they were cramming the wheelchairs in that day!

Well, the scousers will have stolen the wheels off the wheelchairs so they'll have been able to fit more in side-by-side...

I have an idea... recruit 500 babies and fit them in somewhere. They are small and you can stack them up, get at least 25,600 IMO.
