I think the fact that they chose to play it at what can onle be described as a '**** pit' of a stadium has something to do with this Geoff!
I can't understand for one second why they wanted to play it there, when we have stadiums such as the JJB, Haliwell Jones, Galphram (formally Macalpine) and the KC stadium at Hull. What kind of an advert are we sending out playing games at last century stadiums, when we are trying so hard to promote the game at International level.
End of the month, no money, uesday night, st helens, pointless international without a strong NZ side (british based players mostly), wigan fans saving for the weekend... i could go on, those are my opinions.

10,000, adequate for the sort of match it was
I agree with all of that. That wonderful thing called work gets in the way of midweek games for me, I'd even struggle to get to Wigan if we regularly played midweek like they do in some other sports. Whilst St Helens is not the most attractive destination for a night out at the best of times...!

If I wanted to watch a Saints/Wigan (with a spluttering of Rhinos) select XVII then I would have gone to a derby.
That Britain team is not a true selection of tallent in the UK.
Saint's is only a 15 minute drive from Warrington and had all the makings of a sell out, but we Wires had given this test the bird! :eusa18:
The test was a great opportunity for Noble to have thrown down the gauntlet to Briers.
The selectors played it save and filled the team full of players from either side of Billinge Hill.
10 players from saints i thinks is a bit bad ok they may be the in form team at the moment but surely 10 is a bit much shouldnt there be players from the likes of huddersfield and wakefield and so on given a chance ye i know we want to win and want to play the best players we can but if it was wigan with ten players on the gb squad everyone would be complaining saying he was picking favourites

Hey Martin we don't want a team that overlooked our players playing at the HJ...we woundn't have gone!!
The GB+I team does not appeal to me as a team to feel proud about.
It's a joke, and it does not offer me any sense of national passion.

I think the reason it was played at Knowsley Road was the connection of the Kiwis to Saints and the Mcclennan's and hence the selection of several saints youngsters to have their international bow with the likes of James Graham, but would have preferred to see someone other than Ade Gardner on the wing for us.
ye but that would have been carney wouldnt it only noble decided not to select him because he was needed in australia
