WORST REF THIS YEAR!!!!!

Post by turf »

Who is the worst referee in Super League this season? Seeing as I'm starting this thread, I will have first choice and say:

Phil Bentham.

wel ganson is never a good ref to have, the screen helps but without that, when you have him as ref, you may aswel just go home.

phil bluming bentham has been a biased dissapointment. he hasnt had a good game that i have seen.

klein hasnt lived up to his referee of the eyar award and needs shooting.

silverwood hasnt been bad but hasnt been amazing.

carl kk, dont even get me started on him because i think he is more suited for the sunday leagues rather than super elague and even they would send him back to us!

ronny laughton, when he referees he is a joke.

thats about it really :conf:

ganson- 6/10
kk- :eh:
laughton- 4/10
klien- 5/10
silverwood- 7/10
bentham- 5/10

veideo referee:
kershaw- shoot him

Without even a question of doubt, it has to be Klien! The first game of this season against the Catalans was probably the worst display i have ever, ever seen from a referee!

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

Back to the inconsistency thing! Klein has a reputation for favouring the home team, whoever it is (as we saw when we played wakey at the JJB). Ganson, on the other hand, always favours whoever is playing us.
I'd pick Ganson for "worst ref" against us...but couldn't pick a best, they all seem to vary so much week to week

As GeoffN says they vary from week to week. Sometimes they have good games, sometimes they have bad games. They all get a slagging when they give a decision that fans don't agree with, it goes with the territory.

I wonder if referees have a worse game on a Friday evening when they have been at work all day and then rushes half way across the width of the country to get to a match?

Anyone can suggest sacking any referee they like but what would they do next? Bring in a less experienced referee and then suggest he be sacked and then be left with no referees and thus no matches being played.

i watched the northern rail cup final on sky and the referee for that game James Leahy did a good job in swealtering conditions and he looked to be quite young. i'd give him a chance over most of the current SL refs.

The dodgy decisions came from the video referee as usual.

The whole problem with video referees seems to stem from the grey areas and the application of very vague rules. i have started to notice that the video refs try to even things up, if they give one questionable try to one team, they then try to return the favour to the other.

Leahy's had quite a few good reports from NL1/NL2 games, from what I've heard on BBC Radio Manchester. I'm not sure if he's been given any SL games yet, but I'm sure when he does step up it won't take him long to get slated the same as all the other SL refs...
