Think i was about 14 then, dad used to make me listen to him drone on about how crap offiah was :conf: remember saying after the first try wait til i see dad when i get home n tell him :)
Then he just kept going!!! Made my day!!
Still get giddy thinkin about it - not sure was was best - dad being proved wrong or the buzz around the ground!!!

I was there Mike. The most hilarious part of the match is when Bobby Goulding and Shaun Edwards start fighting, watch Colin Morris jump all over the top of them trying to break it up.

The try that always sticks out in my mind is the one where Gene miles literally waits showing the ball for Offiah to take it.

I also went to a cup match away at Rochdale and he scored a few, or was it someone else...

Yes I was there. It was unbelievable even though we had such a good side.

I was there too. One of those occasions you literally couldn't believe you were seeing. Admittedly he was up against young Leigh Deakin for probably his first three tries, but thereafter he had John Bentley marking him which must have been very satisfying. Still the best finisher I have seen in either code in the days when watching Wigan was a privilege and was my consolation for being just slightly too young to appreciate the Welsh Union team of the 70s.

Wigan fans were spoiled in those days, you had no idea what to expect from one match to the next and to think it took until 1994 for us to get BBC Team of the Year...
