Warrington were the better side, without doubt. But it was 2 tries against 2 tries.

I'm not going to cut my throat just yet.

4 god sake give the team time 2 gel 2gether it cant happen all at once, give it 4 or 5 weeks if its not going good then give them loads but not after 1 game, believe or not but we are not the best team in the comp but we are trying 2 get their again but it takes time
Well put

Must admit at the game i thought we were rubbish but watching the game again on the video I thought that there were a lot of positives to come from the game.Even the wife said that we didnt play that bad when you think we lost with 3 penalty kicks through bad discipline/refereeing .[/quote]

The biggest difference for me, compared to the start of last season, is the attitude of the players. From looking like they couldn't be bothered, Noble has got them wanting to keep trying. I think that showed particularly as Wire were trying to slow the game down, while we were always wanting to get on with it (Despite Ganson also slowing it down).

If you watch the game in the cold light of day we were better than I thought which is good because I think we could improve greatly. We made a good start to both halves. I think the last quarter of the game unfortunately was dubiously influenced by a cheating Ganson.

IMO, while it was a pretty diabolical performance, we can take heart from the fact that we played as badly as that and still only conceded two tries against a good Wire side. If we can play like that and still only lose by 6 points, when we play well we've definitely got something to look forward to.
However, something I was concerned about was us being one-dimensional in attack and didn't seem to know how to break them down. I'm sure that will come as the half-backs gel though.

I know weve been here before but what weve got to remember is that it could have been a lot worse. If Warrington had made their plays count we could have been looking at a much greater loss than just six points.

On the flip side if we had had better control not giving penalties away, then it would have been closer too. Also I thought our conversion kicking was rather poor. At least we were fighting till the very end. Heads didn't go down and the lads gave it their all.

IMO we have to give them at least a couple of weeks as it has been stated earlier and try to look at the positives. Even Stains lost on Friday so thats a bonus.

Imagine coming over from Australia to play in that I know hardened blokes from the Highlands who wouldn't have been seen in kilts let alone shorts running round a pitch in 0deg temperatures "chasing the egg"!!!! I was in my seat for the full 80 freezing off my preverbials but still thoroughly enjoyed it. Bring it on is what I say.

i was told by an avid Widnes fan who i work with that when Millard was at smellies ( Widnes for those who dnt know) that he had to have pain killing injections before every game because of a bad back.Have we bought a crock, and do we really need him anyway, and why he started the game before Nicky i will never know.

We have not got rid of the dead wood at the club ie Richards, Vaeliki, and yet it looks as though we have bought a crock. Come on Noble get ur house in order
Wigan is and always will be a town of Cherry & White

Well I don't agree with the poster who - I think on another thread - thought Bailey went OK. For me he was awful and made DV look good.

Like others I am worried about Fielden. He lasted the full 80 (I think) but it was clearly to his detriment. He needed a rest but we simply don't have that luxury. Also, it is plain we will never get more than 2 x 20 minute bursts out of Feca.

Overall I'm not too dissapointed since my sights were set quite low. I actually backed Wolves to win by 1-5 points and was amazed that we had been made 8 point favourites.

Letting in 16 points against a good team isn't a problem. Only being able to score 10 points, however, is. Our attack will improve. Not sure about the kicking, though.

It's early days but next week is "must win" time already. :(

have just watched the game on dvd and to be honest we wheren't that bad. wire had a hell of a lot more breaks than us but in the end with the rub of the green we could have won. that ganson boy sure is inconsistant.

Bailey did play ok and as for making DV look good that is a joke, DV would never have made any of those diving tackles that Bailey made, nor have made any of the runs that Bailey did. What let down Bailey was his understanding with Calderwood, Bailey twice offloaded the ball to Calderwood but Calderwood didn't read the play, if that had come off then people would be singing Baileys praises all week, I struggle to remember the last time DV made any attempt and an offload.

The Wigan squad does need time to gel but with so many new players its a question of how long it will take. It will be no good the players hitting form half way through the season when Wigan are at the bottom of the league because by then it might be to late.
