I think he will do OK for us. He is the sort of signing we have, since the introduction of the salary cap been citisised for NOT making. He is also 26 and so should have the right blend of youth and experience.Doug Stand posted:
Pity Smith wasn't around for another year. I thought he was awsome last season and thought he could do another one...and I yeah lets give the lad (Guissett)a chance. I'm not writing anyone off yet....but I'm not inspired
What I mean is he is good solid player that does not cost the earth and some would say you need a squad with a pretty large core of such players to do well in SL.
We have a few injuries and we are playing several ex-academy players whereas other teams seem to have similar players to Guisett in reserve. I am not sure how true that is or if other teams have just been lucky injury-wise but Leeds fans are forever going on about how deep their squad is.
It does seem to me that a squad of players of the standard of Guisett is what teams aspire to these days given the salary cap. That is not knocking Guisett but despite all the fuss about SBW there are few truly outstanding players being signed by any cub at the moment. I reckon one factor in that is that some sides hoave decided the salary cap dictates the best way to put a squad together is to spend it on capable, rather than out and out great players.
