Goulding, anybody else worried?

He hardly gets the ball to be greedy, neither centre does. There are some games when I seriously doubt if he has got the ball twice in open play. Yet because his winger also has not got the ball he is called greedy

Yes he didnt pass to Colbon against Bradford and rightly so many thought. Get over it. He played badly against Saints and was often out of position but funnily enough he was playing out of position for most of the game, in a position that he has hardly played before.

Ignore the fact that he kept Webster, who has possibly been the best centre in SL this year, quiet for most of the game yesterday and set up the match winning try. Ignore the fact that he completely outplayed Hape, again one of the best centres in SL, no just focus on the fact that he didnt pass the ball, even though he had made the initial break out of nothing. Ignore the fact that he is the leading try scorer so far.

At least Sean O'Loughlin will be glad that Goulding has, over the past week, seemingly joined him as a Wigan hate figure. At least Goulding will now know that hes 'made' it

From where I was sat, there was a definate lung with the leg, sorry but a more experienced ref would have given the red card, we were very lucky....

Does anyone know whether lockers will be fit for friday, looked like a re occurrence of a throat or sternum injury from the last home game, thats why he came off, or else a dent in his perm

Looked like a blatant trip. Suspension to follow?

Paul Reilly picked up a one match suspension when Wakefield played St. Helens, he changed his stride to deliberately trip Paul Wellens then dived to the ground himself to cover it up. He was cited after the game though.

He also appeared to trip someone on the Sky game against Hull KR but nothing came of it. It was more of a reaction at knowing a try was about to be scored and Klein just had a word with him. A trip isn't necassarily a straight red, you have to think why the player did it, did he intend to break someones leg or did he do it from desperation (e.g. Lulu last season in front of South Stand).

Am I right Rob that a trip has been upgraded though. Once upon a time it was highlighted and several players got sent off / suspended so they downgraded it. Then it was an automaticsend off. A Widnes player got sent off in a semi at CP and Hampo tripped somebody and walked.

Whats the score with the grading Rob? Wilkin and goulding are graded differently?

Personally, I thought the HKR wrong footed Goulding and he instinctively stuck his leg out. I presume that will get him 1 match at least. I think 2 is the maximum for a trip?

I haven't got a clue how the disciplinary grade stuff.

I just think it's a matter of common sense. Has the player deliberately tripped to cause an injury, have they done it to prevent a try, have they done it out of desperation without causing injury...

I think he missed the tackle and instinctively stuck out his foot. It was intentional but not malicious IMO. I doubt he'll be playing on Friday but he'll be unlucky to get more than 1 match.

As for him being greedy - didn't you see the match-winning try he set up for Calderwood?

Didn't you see him refuse to pass the ball on two occasions to his wingman and in previous matches try to walk round the FB in a two on One overlap?

He needs to improve.

True, he's failed to set up his winger more than once - and not just in the last game. My point was this - when a player sets up a match-winning try with five minutes on the clock with a nice bit of individual play, let's give credit where it's due.

Rather than simply bagging him for the scores that might have been.
