I do not think people maybe bar acouple have been critical. I think we have all been through so many overseas signings to wait and see rather than pre-judge. As Piggy would probably say the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I think Riddell signing is good for Wigan.

He's always impressed me when I've watched him play for the Eels on Setanta.

He hasn't even played a game and his signing is being criticised, give Riddell a chance to show what he's capable of.

Two seasons ago when Millward was coach and we were bottom of the league, I felt Higham was one of the few players who were turning up. However, he has been pretty ineffective for long periods since them and I do not thimk he can have many complaints if he does get binned. I have seen Riddell on TV he seems ok from what I can remember. Lets hope he does not follow in the recent tradition of big Aussie signings.

I don't think that Barrett had a similar cause.

That is *exactly* what was in the great man's S Illawarra contract. He didn't seek a release, it was in his contract that he could play in the ESL

If we've agreed to release Barrett then there is not much we can do about getting a transfer fee.

We are desperate for a decent prop, desperate for a decent centre, desperate for a decent winger, and desperate for a decent stand off for next season, so we spend a chunk on a hooker of which we have two decent ones at the club already.
You couldn't make it up!!

But, it is unknown WHAT Higham is being paid at the moment....but you can bet it wont be buttons either.

Either way, he (and his agent) would have wanted more money for his next (possibly final) contract than previous - that would be hard to argue.

The best form of defence is attack!!

Out of the black and into the red, remember you don't get anything for two in a bed!!

I can't believe how negative some of the posters on here are being. Higham showed great potential but IMO he hasn't delivered it consitantly. I know the same could be said about a number of our players.
So far this season (and I'm not singling Higham out, it's only cos this thread's about him, sort of) his distribution has been poorer than in the past, he occasionally does well when he scoots from dummy half, but more often than not I would liken him to a headless chicken.
Whatever people may say about Riddell, he has played and secured a regular first team slot in the NRL. This, surely, is no mean feat. I am quite prepared (as always) to give them a chance and see what they play like for us. I can guarantee that if he turns out to be a fans favourite, all these knockers of him, will not be calling him then.
