You couldn't make it up!!
But, it is unknown WHAT Higham is being paid at the moment....but you can bet it wont be buttons either.

Either way, he (and his agent) would have wanted more money for his next (possibly final) contract than previous - that would be hard to argue.
What Higham is being paid now is irrelevant because next season would be a new contract.

If the club wanted to retain him it would make him an offer in line with its pay policy. It would then be up to him to accept the offer or decline it.

This is not what has happened.

It has not made him any offer either of more or less than his current wage but instead has signed another hooker with Higham still officially in the dark over his future.

I think the original point that other areas of the team are in greater need of attention than hooker is a fair one.

That is before we consider whether the club could have got Higham cheaper next season than Riddle thus leaving more money in the pot. My own opinion, speculation though it is, is that Riddle will be costing us more than Higham would have accepted for next season.

The odd thing is there is a debate Down Under that since he lost weight he is less effective.

The one advantage he does have over most British hookers is that he does have a kicking game.

Piggy is not what I would class as one of them but the NRL hookers now seem to be as important playmakers as the scrum half. The stand off is often not a playmaker. However, the caveat being the Aussies play around the POTB until they get to certain parts of the field and their players group together around the hooker.

i think its a step in the rigjht direction personally...

i think when we got rid of terry newton saints got one over on us and dominated with having a power hooker and speed hooker....

i think know we will be able to compete with the big powerful packs of other teams with riddell controlling them...

Can i refer you to Souther Warriors post earlier on this topic of Piggy. There is no reference to his size only to say he is reduced in stature somewhat,to the betterment of his performance.

Fat Git, useless at The Eels, as bad a signing as Greg Florimo.

I think he will be on less than Higham and if he is average that will still mean we have improved in the position over the player we have had over the last 3 years.
I can only think of one game(Bradford at home in the run in of the staying up season) that Higham would have even been mentioned as a MOM sure Dobson got it for that game .
As for Riddel lacking form or being useless in the NRL
if you want inept performances of the highest quality look no further than any one of our players in the last 2 games against Saints sure Riddell as never stooped to that low level in his entire career

Can anyone tell me of a game that he stood out in ? I do stress he seems a great bloke but he as been less than average for us as a player thus he was second fiddle to a past it hooker in Millard and a youngster this year Macalorum
in a pivitol position he has not cut it . He is not alone by the way .

Particularly liked the Cuba Gooding Jr / Jerry Maguire parody!
