Calderwood exit confirmed
Re: Calderwood exit confirmed
I agree BM. I actually think Stanton would go better at first team level than he does now because SL players tend to be bigger and he can exploit his size.
As you say it can have advantages.
Just not sure Nobby thinks that way

This could be the first time in RL history that Hull field a faster backline than Wigan

Got to feel for Calderwood,he has been treated very poorly by Nobby.Colbon has been given every chance but has come up short every time whilst a proven scorer like Calders has been the fall guy when we put in a poor display.I have stuck up for Noble on many occasions on this site but am beginning to realise that perhaps he needs to deliver as his selections are dubious to say the least. He needs to admit that his favourites Colbon and Fielden are not worth a place and should pick players on merit.

How can you disregard playoff games? AS Dave has said, they're the crucial ones, and the ones against better opposition.Wigan_forever19 85 wrote: if you disregard play-off games:
Calderwood scored 6 trys the whole of last season
Colbon (inferior player to most) 6 trys 16 games in to this season.
Last year:
Calderwood 15 tries in 31 games
Colbon 6 in 13
this year:
Calderwood 7 tries in 9 games
Colbon 9 in 19

I think the one thing that everyone has forgotten is that for the bulk of his Wigan career, Calderwood has been playing outside decidedly average centres - DV a prime example. It would have been a far better reflection of his abilities to see him outside George.GeoffN wrote:How can you disregard playoff games? I am sure he would have scored a lot more tries had he played alongside a centre that can
a) break a tackle
b) draw a man
or
c) pass the f***ing ball!

Re: Calderwood exit confirmed
True Matthew and the one classic move Leeds did was kick from scrums in their own 20 or kick before the last tackle for Calders to chase. He was brilliant at chasing kicks for Leeds often gaining them 50-60 yards or scoring. He came to Wigan and we never used that skill.

Re: Calderwood exit confirmed
Don't be ridiculous, of course we should wish him all the best for his future however i for one have no wish to see him return to the JJB and be the reason for defeat he can score as many hattricks as you wish just not against Wigan so don't plead to him to do so!
