Re: Web Site Player Sponsorship?
I'll agree with whatever the 'board' suggest

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

As it stands, we already have 19 pledges, so one more and we can get a "fringe player".cpwigan wrote:If need be A to B how about £25 each?
I've PM'd Mike and he's going to contact the club on monday to see who is available and at what cost.
My initial suggestion was for people to post cheques to mike, as if he doesn't get enough, he can bin the cheques and no one loses out. I know the club will hold players for an interim period, so let's see what mike comes back with and take it from there.
Mike, if reading this, when you phone the club, get them to confirm if price includes VAT

Next step is once the monies are in, we put it to a vote as who to sponsor (by PM to all who donate only)

I'm confident that if the club are aware of the way this sponsorship is being funded that we could get them to come to an agreement of sorts. I'm sure most "busineses" will have the ability to write of a certain amount against tax, which is something this site could not do.
Let's wait to see what Mike comes back with and then hopefully we can set the wheels in motion

Re: Web Site Player Sponsorship?
Maybe AB could start a new thread re this.
I suggest £10 shares invested in the player. As stated some cannot afford £20. Each syndicate member is free to buy as many shares as he wants. I will pledge my £20 This entitles me to two shares or two tckets in the draw for the goodies. Each to what he/she can afford. Winners of the draw are allowed to take the prise or if unable to can nominate a representative or auction the prize on the site here for Mike towards the running costs. The representative must have been a member on here prior to purchase but need not be a syndicate member. The new thread I suggest is for pledges only. That way we have a record of who is in with no discussion. That can remain on this thread. Time to move this on, Jim

Re: Web Site Player Sponsorship?
Lets wait for mike to come back with details from the club.
Only problem with making it a tenner a share is that we may not get enough to sponsor a player, whereas with 19 already saying yes at £20, we could have £380 already (if everyone backs up their pledges).

Re: Web Site Player Sponsorship?
Fair point, Guy, but if the 19 honour their pledge Maybe the others would chip in. Another way would be to squeeze an extra tenner out of the 19 that is nearly the total inc vat. It would mean nearly an evens chance of one of the goodies. In other words if you are out there and hanging back you could loose out
