Who's to blame this week?
Re: Who's to blame this week?
I suppose a lot of us are covering the same points but the facts remain.
Noble has never been one to promote any young player when an older, bigger player is available.
He prefers heavyweight players and always has.
We can't wait until April / May for Piggy and Amos to find their feet.
Our tactics - and surely they come from Noble - are producing mediocrity in attack and panic in defence.
There is skill in our team and there are talented youngsters at Wigan but our coach is unable to get the best out of them. I'm sure he tries but, to me, he simply hasn't got what we need.
If we somehow lose to Cas, Noble has to be man enough to admit that he's failed and walk.

Possibly, but why then does Noble keep picking signings for the squads that perhaps he didn't agree with? We've already pointed out many other options that he has - unless you argue that IL is also having a say in team selection, which I don't believe is the case.old hooker wrote:slimshady wrote:I would love to know how much input Nobby has had with regards to signing or selling players.cpwigan wrote:As much as I dislike Noble I have to say the fans who believe Lennagan is incapable of securing a quality replcement may well be correct.
If we try for a quality player, and are outbid by another club, that's fair enough IMO, otherwise we're back to the Lindsay method of breaking the cap for a player we decide we want at any cost.
Re: Who's to blame this week?
Maybe IL tells Nobby that if he's paying their big money contracts he doesnt want them on the bench or in the A team he wants them on the pitch. There is definately a problem somewhere and if it is IL interfereing he should butt out! Maybe concentrate on getting the clubs image with the fans back to how it used to be.GeoffN wrote:Possibly, but why then does Noble keep picking signings for the squads that perhaps he didn't agree with? Re: Who's to blame this week?
He should not But-out as you put it,as owner of the club and along with Mike Hogan put the blocks on a signing that for financial reasons is not possible.
Re: Who's to blame this week?
Why should he have any input in the coaching of the team, IL or MH are as far as Iam aware are not qualified coaches and should not dictate who plays or who doesnt. There is no evidence that this is happening it was just an opinion on the situation at the club. What signing have they blocked for financial reasons?platt-warrior wrote:He should not But-out as you put it,as owner of the club and along with Mike Hogan put the blocks on a signing that for financial reasons is not possible.

May I respectfully suggest you read my post again.I at no time suggested both IL or MH get involved in the coaching side of the BUSINESS.But they must have a say, even for financial reasons, if a player can be bought or not.
Re: Who's to blame this week?
Maybe you should read my posts again, what I said was they should not dictate who plays, the coach and his staff should pick the team not the owner. I never said they shouldnt have input in player recruitment but they should not force players on the coach that he doesnt feel are ready to play, like I said there is no evidence that this occurs.platt-warrior wrote:May I respectfully suggest you read my post again.I at no time suggested both IL or MH get involved in the coaching side of the BUSINESS.But they must have a say, even for financial reasons, if a player can be bought or not.

Let's agree to disagree,NB's there to coach ,MH's there to drive the business forward from a financial point of view.
IL is the owner full stop
IL is the owner full stop

Re: Who's to blame this week?
Here is a thought. If you control the purse strings you cannot directly force the coach to play players but you can do so indirectly.
Let's say I am a coach and I like signing ready made players. I go to the owner and say let's sign X. The owner maks X and offer, we get outbid. The owner then starts increasing the contracts of the young players he wants to see playing. Even less money is left in the kitty so as coach I have to start using the young players because I cannot sign the players I want to.
N.B I am not saying anybody is right or wrong just that people can be often influenced indirectly.
