[quote="fred_flintstone"]I have some vague memory that Robinson was implicated in the Pongia situation??

Thsi was part of the excuse they used, Robinson was not to blame for this,

Robinson was got rid of in order to keep Lamb for anouther 12 mth.

Keep Wigan "Wigan"

Chris Ashton was offered 60k per season by the board on there 4th offer, when they made there 2nd 3rd and 4th offer they already knew he had been offered 180k per season with RU.
He didn't want too go. He had just been voted player of the season, granted only 1 year but surely he had every right to expect a better offer than 60k a year.
Josie seems to know his attitude off the pitch had gone downhill and she always talks sense on here so I don't dispute that but certainly don't blame him for expecting better from Wigan.
Rugby can be a very short career and whilst playing for your hometown club is a fantastic offer you make hay whilst the sun shines and to earn 3 x your salary and potentially set yourself up for life, I know what I would've done.

Also on another point raised in this thread
Danny Tickle, Kev Brown and Gaz Hock had all gone off the rails and nearly sent this club down by their attitude off the pitch, I think there will be some on here who will know what they were up too. Brown, Tickle, Moran and few others were rightly bombed out the club but they decided to help Hock work through his extra curricular issues

Not in my opinion; that £60k represents what he was worth. Can't blame him for taking the £180k from RU, but there's no way we could justify paying him that sort of wage, which would have made him one of the highest earners at the club.

There is no way that he went to Northampton for 180K a year. Many top RU players dont get paid that, never mind a promising RL one.

Wigan were right not to match Northampton's offer, whatever it was, as he simply was not worth that amount of money. He had many flaws and wasnt even a guaranteed first teamer, even 60K a year would have been more than he was worth.

You say Rads turned it down but he was on a huge amount as sport GB subsidised around 3 players before disappearing and he was one of them.

Not saying I like him but would feel like biting my nose of to spite my face if we said lets not have a fast (dont have real speed in the team now) plyer back due to him wearing a Northampton top (after agreeing terms with them).

I suppose we could turn away proven class and stick with Mathers :eusa2:
It was his attitude on the field after signing for Northampton which I found unacceptable, him appearing in the shirt is only part of the issue. Whay has he gone from top scorer to not getting picked so quickly, he still has the talent so maybe its his attitude again causing the problem?
Is he fit?
The most true point of them all Pedro, and for League, it is a definite nooooo, not fit.
It will take a full match season to get him anywhere near fit.

Swap him for Mathers any day!!!! :eusa10: :eusa10: :eusa10:

I wonder what the reaction would be from us supporters sat in the stands when he trotted out for his first game/warm up session, if, he (Ashton) ever came back to Wigan.

On another note, I didn't know that Tickle had to leave Wigan because of an attitude problem?!?!?! I know Ashton did the old, "Tommy Rocker" trick with the bouncers round Wigan Town Centre, but I wouldn't have expected it from Tickle, he doesn't look that type. :o :o :o
