I wonder what the reaction would be from us supporters sat in the stands when he trotted out for his first game/warm up session, if, he (Ashton) ever came back to Wigan.
On another note, I didn't know that Tickle had to leave Wigan because of an attitude problem?!?!?! I know Ashton did the old, "Tommy Rocker" trick with the bouncers round Wigan Town Centre, but I wouldn't have expected it from Tickle, he doesn't look that type.
If Mathers was our regular fullback and there were no other fullbacks available anywhere then I would agree with you.
On your point about Tickle, I saw him drinking with Terry Newton in Hull not long after Tickle had left. I spoke to Terry for a bit, asked how he was getting on and he was really pleasant. I asked Tickle how he was and he turned to Terry and said, "come on lets go" downed his drink, got up and walked off without saying a word. Terry newton apologised and patted me on the back.
Gareth Thomas before his first game: "You wanna spend 10 mins getting smashed up by these guys..Big dudes here.."
If that's what Tickle said, then same on you Danny Tickle. You were only asking him a question and he said that!!!
An absolute disgrace!!!!
On Ashton though gpartin, if he did come back, the reaction would be interesting from us spectators in the stand when he first came out of the tunnel for a warm up.
Plus also, if Ashton did/does come back to Wigan, I know he was a bit cocky, but if Radlinksi can help Mathers, then there's still hope for young Ashton yet!!! :badg: :badg:
I'll give him a lift to anywhere he wants free of charge!?
Anyway back on topic, Maybe a couple of years away might of allowed Ashton to grow up, and even if he has played union, he might of learnt a few things. I'd give him a shot, maybe on a deal similar to what Phelps had last season were he has to prove himself in order to earn a new contract. The old carrot and stick routine
"Well, it seemed like a good idea" he said, as the paramedics slowly lifted him into the waiting ambulance
Bit ambivalent about the prospect of Ashton ever coming back to Wigan but if any of these rumours carry any substance then Ashton would be a brave boy indeed.
If he did resign for Wigan I hope for his sake he is willing to perform to the best of his ability because one poor game and the already fickle Wigan fan's with enough arsenal to fire at him already would treat him so badly I doubt he would want to play again.
