IL confirmed it was tabloid sensationalism on the Radio Manchester program tonight. Singled out the Mirror article and rubbished it saying it was taken out of context.

Dave
Which he would Dave
What he said was:

"We still get misquoted by stupid headlines, one in the Daily Mirror which bore no relevance to what was in the rest of the article or what I actually said."

Go to about 1 hour 9 mins on the iplayer link of the interview.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p004lp21

When I read the article myself that is more or less what I thought and what posted earlier on here and on rlfans earlier in the day.

On rlfans the person who started the thread on this topic did so suggesting the article meant IL was having a dig. I didn't think it was as soon as I read it and concluded it was journalistic spin right away. Hearing what IL said on the radio just conforms that IMO.

I did hear the bbc interview Dave and a bloke like IL should have taken care to look at his exact wording before doing an interview with a tabloid. I have no doubt that the words I quoted were said by IL and although he may not have intended it to come across as such it did to me. Both Wane and IL have indirectly made it abundantly clear that they agree with the majority on here with regard to Wigan as a club, Nobby and where we want to be in the future, and CP, you have every right to feel vindicated.

Anyway no need for the speculation about what was and wasn't said is there really, I think we're just about all agreed its a good move for the club.

That is very true.

I remember a headline in the Sun "Tory Minister photographed in womens' clothes"

When you turned to page 2 it was Ann Widdecombe, but by then of course, you had already bought it!!

Highland Convert? Your not singing anymore
When you have liers backing you like Jfartin there is little point is there CP. I stated my points, and I stand by what I wrote. More damage was done by posters on here than by BN. Lets see how blue eyed boy takes it when Coley gives away a penalty or Fielden drops a ball next season. Remember it was mistakes more than poor coaching that coost us games.
And I still believe Mike should have deleted you and your obituary notice when you posted it. Other sites do. They are designed for one thing only. To destroy a site. Sing your victory anthem but remember you destroyed WWF.com to do it.

Can you two either grow up or have a fight at playtime, all your mates can stand around clappin and chanting fight fight fight. I think most people on here are getting pissed off with your silly posts and backbiting just draw a line under it and move on for Christs sake.

When gpartin printed the blatant lie on the CP goodbye post I did give it a rest. If people are willing to go that low there is little point. However look how many times I have been mentioned on here by the gloaters. Listening to Radio Manchester see how quick they were to tell the caller to get real when he criticised Nobles coaching. I certainly hope that the new team performs next season. I also hope Noble moves on and confounds his critics.

Let's set diferences aside for now if we can.
My view is that Noble did an excellent job in his time here, but he wasn't the man to take this team and this club forward.
The NRL has the best ideas and Storm have the best ideas in the NRL. MM versus Noble is no contest in my mind at this time, though Noble's skills were perfect for a team within touching distance of relegation.

It seems to me that the many of the viewpoints put forward by the so called Nobby knockers have been put forward by IL as being the reasons that we needed a change & by SW as the changes that are going to be made (better fitness needed, real competition for places, more trust in our young players, more than 1 dimensional tactics).

I have found the last 3 years very frustrating as I feel we are very close to winning things but not able to take that final step. Brian Noble has had a massive part in taking us from relegation fodder to consistant Semi finalist & I thank him for that, but he hasn't been able to push the team beyond that. He's more than had his chance, time for someone else to have a go.
I honestly think with a fresh tactical outlook & culture the current squad is more than capable of a top 3 finish. Add 1 or 2 top quality players to that squad & the future looks very good indeed. I fully expect to have won one of the major trophys over the next 3 years.

What Nobby does next has no bearing on Wigan or his critics. If he ain't the man for Wigan, he ain't the man.
Personally I think he needs a change as much as we do and I wish him the best of luck with Celtic (or wherever he goes).

Just to add to that, I really think we have to get back to the thinking that Wigan RLFC is a special club and that expectations should be higher than every other RL club. Wigan is the most famous name in RL for a reason and we need to bring that mentality back to the players, staff & fans.
By far the greatest team, the world has ever seen.
