I agree Geoff N, I like the way MM has no fear of dropping anyone, (or resting as he likes to call it), with this it makes all players give that bit extra as they never know who is 'rested' next. unlike the noble days where you could almost name the team a week before the game
I think MM knows the difference between saing rested and saying dropped, more importantly, I guess the players know.

You could regret that post our Big Hairy Biker
Oh Bugger, looks like i've been sleep posting again

maybe so CP but the way i see it, if MM had wanted to play Amos at 1 he would have done so at the start of the season, hence he must have wanted Amos on the wing and Phelps at 1 for a reason
Maybe wrong, but I thought CPW was alluding to your mixed metaphor! :D

shame they are waisting such a talent he should be teamed with Sam, imo they would be better than what we have now

He did, as did Feca & Ainscough.

They lost 30-22, meaning all 4 of our lower grade sides lost.

Do you have a list of the scores for the U16s this season? I'm little behind.

What evidence are you basing this on? Lulu is having a great season, we've been more creative in attack than I've seen from a Wigan team for years, Piggy is doing well at hooker and McIlorum is just coming back and doing well imo.

On your point about putting Phelps back to FB I think it would be stupid given how well Amos is playing there. Amos is weak at taking high balls under pressure and theres far more pressure taking balls on the wing with another einger running towards you than at FB where you've usually got more time. I can't believe anyone would want to move our most exciting and creative player into a position where he's likely to be finishing moves off rather than creating them and also being a ;bomb target'. Its not brain science and imo its not going to happen.

I think you rate Phelps a bit too much and wonder if its because CP doesn't?

You may have hit the nail on the head GP

At the present time Tommy and Sam at 7 and 6. I think Sam is more a 6 than a 7 at this stage in his career and Amos at 1 seem like lock in for those positions.

It looks to me that Phelps may well be falling out of favour.

If MM was such a Phelps fan he would not have moved Pat to FB and put Pryce on the wing. Pat wasn't 100% for the CC game and was taken off in the 2nd half. So Phelps was left out because MM considered a less 100% Pat (who is second choice at FB anyway) better than Phelps. Considering Phelps has the No 1 shirt - being 3rd choice FB is surely a sign that the coach doesn't rate you.

Alternatively he could have put Phelps on the wing instead of Pryce - and considering how underwhelming he has been when he has played in the reserves (according to the reports on here); he wouldn't have to be that outstanding.

Phelp played for the reserves against wire; so he isn't injured.

Whilst MM might have been trying out Phelps at stand off in a game that didn't really matter to see how he went (and the team lost). Even if he had a good game (and I don't know whether he did or not), he would still have to displace either Sam or Tommy (which seems highly unlikely) and also be a better option that Deacon (who can't currently get in the team either).
