Think Feka is guilty of not doing quite a few things fans don't generally tend to notice. I don't think Madge wants a prop who needs a 10 yard run up to take the ball in. This telegraphs who's getting the ball making it easy to gang tackle the runner. Also on most 3rd or 4th tackle plays, the forwards take dummy runs through ahead of the ball to disguise the play, don't remember Feka doing this when he's played. The lazy way he walks forward ahead of play on the 5th tackle stands out a mile as well.
When you consider that Mossop was dropped for not getting his tackle technique correct its no surprise that Feka is out of favour.

Surely tonight's team means Feka is on his way out?
Re: Surely tonight's team means Feka is on his way out?
Me to considering one of the things Lenegan wants is for Wigan to develop from within and not rely on overseas players but circumstances have meant that Maguire almost has a pick of his old players from Melbourne.TWO EYED WARRIOR wrote:The interesting thing here is how the coaches and chairman work together in shaping the club for 2011 would love to be a fly on the wall in those meetings.
They have to strike the right balance between imports and home grown players and also not to sign Melbourne players just because they are available they need to fit into the squad.
With the exception of Riddell I think all the overseas players leaving will be replaced by better ones; Phelps, Bailey and Feka.
Re: Surely tonight's team means Feka is on his way out?
He was on the wing (where was Roberts?) and if every time a player makes a mistake for a try that signals the end of his Wigan career then we will need a complete new team for 2011.MrDave wrote: Saints scored a try because they exploited the space Feka left in the defensive line since he was so slow getting back. Straight after that try Maguire brought Feka off and he has not played since.
I don't have an issue with people saying he doesn't fit in or in general isn't fit enough but singling out mistakes is IMO daft. All players make them but some seem get them hung around their necks like an albatross and others do not.

Re: Surely tonight's team means Feka is on his way out?
No one is hanging on a limb he is playing for a contract. I think we are all far too cynical to believe such words after what happened to Higham and this was confirmed when Feka didn't play v Salford despite what Madge said. It's just very disappointing the coach makes such statements when he has no intention of honouring his words.butt monkey wrote: Just wish that those "hanging on a limb" that the player still has things to prove and might change in-house decisions now (ala the Higham situation) are wasting their time. Do you not think that Feka has been told exactly what's happening? I think, maybe, Lenegan is asking Madge to not tell the media which players are being released and which are staying.DaveO wrote:No one is hanging on a limb he is playing for a contract. Josie says that she knows what's going on and given how close she is to Feka, I'd say that it's possibly not a secret to the parties concerned. As far as fans go, who knows why IL doesn't speculate on either signings or players being released, although I agree, I don't see any reason for him to be so secretive.
The only problem that I've got with this charade, is the frustration of not knowing whats going on, it's not an inconvenience or anything, it's just the not knowing. Enough rumours are posted on here by people who have "contacts" within the club, for us to make a reasonable assumption that the players and staff who are being mentioned on these formus, are actually in the know, regarding what the club are doing re-contracts.
Re: Surely tonight's team means Feka is on his way out?
We had the same kind of discussion when Higham left. The club said one thing and did another and we are not talking subtleties here but blatant contradictions.Sutty wrote:Do you not think that Feka has been told exactly what's happening? I am quite sure IL isn't too pleased it's all over the press Hoffman has signed for us as that will force his hand sooner rather than later but I don't see any need to spout fairytale's to the press as a way of not letting on what the future holds for Feka. I find it patronising and whether Feka knows or not is not the issue for me.
I don't have a problem with him being secretive but I do have a problem with club officials telling porkies. As you say Josie has said she has known what has been going on for some time. Other people are saying Feka knows he is off at the end of the season so to come out with "he is playing for a contract" is very bad form IMO whether Feka knows it's not true or not.Josie says that she knows what's going on and given how close she is to Feka, I'd say that it's possibly not a secret to the parties concerned. I know from speaking to our ex chief exec Mr Hogan that IL was none too happy about the leaks coming out of the club but I think there is a difference between not knowing and thinking the club is talking complete rubbish to the press about players having the opportunity to earn a new deal. The only problem that I've got with this charade, is the frustration of not knowing whats going on, it's not an inconvenience or anything, it's just the not knowing. Re: Surely tonight's team means Feka is on his way out?
It was the Roby try I was on about rather than the Meli try. In the build up the Roby try Feka puts in a big hit but from the tackle goes to no mans land, neither at marker or in the defensive line, as soon as the try was score Feka was pulled from the pitch.DaveO wrote:He was on the wing (where was Roberts?) and if every time a player makes a mistake for a try that signals the end of his Wigan career then we will need a complete new team for 2011.MrDave wrote: Saints scored a try because they exploited the space Feka left in the defensive line since he was so slow getting back. I would agree that one mistakes should not end a players career at Wigan but under Maguire players are only going to get a few chances and Feka has had more than enough now. People were happy to highlight Gleesons mistakes against Leeds but since the Leeds game Gleeson has improved a lot.

Re: Surely tonight's team means Feka is on his way out?
Right, to put an end to all this speculation & rumours.
Feka has been told his contract won't be renewed, he was told this several weeks ago, so the report last Thursday in the post was a load of lies when it said he would be playing & it would be for a contract!
He knew he was playing in the under 20's on the Tuesday.
There have been several clubs interested in him & several weeks ago, Bradford asked Wigan, that if they weren't going to play Feka in the first team, could they buy out the rest of his contract & for him to play the rest of this season for them, Bradford.
Feka refused to do this as he doesn't want to leave the club this way as he feels it wouldn't be fair to the rest of his team mates or to the many fans who have given him support why he has been here. He has said that if he has to play the rest of the season in the under 20's then that is what he will do.
Originally he was earmarked for Saints, it was Millward that was chasing his signature. Millward got the sack from Sts, & because Feka had given his word to Millward he came to Wigan instead. Which he has stated several times he is so glad he didn't go to them & got to play for us & not the 'plastic scousers'. The contract details for both clubs was identical.
After the 20's game on Saturday, two small boys approached Feka & asked him 'Are you going to be at Wigan next year, &, if not, where will you be playing?'
He replied that he didn't know yet.
Both sulking then said that it wasn't fair that he was leaving, & that it should be Pryce & not you Feka!!
What is the saying 'Out of the mouth of babes..........'

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
