Quinn would be for Carmont as Daz would move to centre and Quinn on the wing. Hoffman is a replacement for Bailey, Finch is a replacement for Piggy so tommy can move to 9 and Lima is a replacement for Feka. its not shutting out talent its just upgrading our current overseas players. this year should have proved Maguire is willing to give young talent a go
I can see the logic behind signing Hoffman, Lima or both, but there is absolutely no reason why we should sign Quinn.

We already have 2 of the most prolific wingers in the competition this season. If this year has shown anything it's that the wing is the one place where you don't need superstars in order to be successful.
Goulding, Riley, Hodgson, Cudjoe are hardly world class, they all have flaws to their game but they are all very good wingers in this competition.

If a club wants to spend a lot of money on a winger that's fine, if they are a stand out player then it's a good move, but we already are spending lots of money on a stand out player to play on the wing, we don't need another one at all. We also have a fullback in Roberts who's not going to be that cheap and another import, so why fill up another wing spot which is generally the easiest place to bring in a young player.

If we want a centre to replace Carmont, we should sign a centre or bring someone through the academy, but spending the cash on a quota player to play on the wing so that a player who has played very well on the wing all season can move to centre doesn't really make much sense.

Either Roberts or Richards to full back with Quinn on the wing.???

I'd take Hoffman - if he is half as good as Furner then he will be worth it just for the experience he can give our young forwards. Not seen Finch but if he a good organiser perhaps could help smooth off some of Sams rough edges (to make him a world class half back that is - he's already quite good is Sam)
No idea why we need a winger though, any above average NRL prop would be on my shopping list way above the winger.

What about making these signings "short term" ie 1 or 2 seasons, surly this would suit both Warriors & Storm ?

I really don't like the idea of 1 year signings. I don't have a problem if we get emergency cover if allowed by the salary cap like we did a few years ago with that Aussie forward Graham but I just don't see the point of 1 year deals for new players for any other reason.

I was under the impression the club had a plan which was basically compliment the home grown players with a couple of top class overseas signings (if available) and by that I took it to mean "proper" full fledged members of the squad on two or three year deals, not someone coming here to bide their time for a season while Melbourne get sorted out.

yeah a couple Dave and not the amount people are throwing about at the moment.I am all for what you have said and i thought there was a quota still on imported players.I reckon we need a quality halfback and a prop to improve next season.

There is, but the rumoured new signings would be straight swaps (in terms of the quotas) for those who are (rumoured to be) leaving. Piggy, confirmed, and possibly Bailey & Phelps, as well.

Our 4 quota players at present are Piggy, Phelps, Roberts & Bailey. Carmont, Feca & Richards are "Kolpaks", Leuluai & Hansen count as home-grown.

Reports on RLFans says that madge has played down romours of us signing anyone.

Also links to Auz papers stating that the storm are possibly 3.2 million over the cap in the past 5 seasons.

Tommy is so sharp from dummy half (reminds me of myself sometimes :D) that it is hard not to play him at 9 then again he has been fantastic for us at 7 this year and he tightens our defence up on the right hand side. To be honest I'd rather sign a decent hooker (Shaun Lunt as I've stated before) and keep Sam and Tommy in the halves.

1. Amos
2. Darrell
3. Glees
4. Carmont
5. Pat
6. Sam
7. Tommy
8. Fielden
9. Shaun Lunt
10. Coles
11. H
12. JT
13. Lockers

14. Micky mac
15. Lima
16. Hoffman
17. Mossop

I am telling you, Shaun Lunt would be an awesome addition to our squad, we don't need Finch.
Up The Mont!
