Wigan Warriors can confirm that the engage Super League Round 25 home game with Huddersfield Giants has been moved from Friday 13th August to Sunday 15th August at the DW Stadium with a 3pm kick off.

The game has been moved to accommodate Wigan Athletic against Blackpool FC in the Barclays Premier League which was originally scheduled to take place at Blackpool, but due to ongoing work at their Bloomfield Road ground the game has now been moved to the DW Stadium on Saturday 14th August. The change in football fixture has been ratified by the Premier League and accordingly the Warriors have moved their game to the Sunday.

Speaking about the change, Chairman Ian Lenagan said,

"We have been asked by Wigan Athletic and the DW Stadium to change the Huddersfield home game to the Sunday to accommodate the change in the Premier League fixture the day before. We are more than happy to assist in this and would like to thank Huddersfield Giants for their agreement to switch the fixture to Sunday."

i need to watch my language here

it is quite obvious that Mr lenegan is a whimp , why cant he just say sod off Whelan

switching our game to accommodate some no bloody hopers who play football once again is making us a laughing stock

get some balls lenegan

It's hardly Lenagans fault. If we was to speak up what would be the consequences? He isn't going to say anything because he isn't a loud-mouth like Whelan and Doris.

Lenegan is totally resposible for this, Wigan Warriors have as much right to the stadium as the football nancies.
Stop payig the rent until the premier league/Whelanthecrook back down.
The fairies do more damage to the pitch than the rugby does anyway.

Lenegan, you are pathetic!!

The bit that sticks in ma craw is the "more that happy" bit.I am delighted that he is happy that it is going to cost me ANOTHER £180 plus time off work to attend this match, and delighted for him that several season season ticket holders now cant attend a match they had penciled in for more than nine months .

I he had come out with a Sorry it was outwith the clubs control but we have secured guarrantee's for the play off games should they be at home, i think most of us could have lived with it.

As it stands it all stinks off P**S (not pies)

PS Getting a bit short of breath holding it waiting for a reply to my e-mail to the club.

How can a rearanged game take precedent over a game which was already arranged months previous?

Why could Latics not play their game on the Sunday?

Why did the FA not give Blackpool their first home game in the Premiership against a more well know club who do not ground share. Was it done on purpose because there was the possibility that they knew that the ground would not be ready for the star of the football season.

What exactly is the terms of leasing the DW Stadium by the Warriors where games are concerned. The Huddersfield and Hull Stadiums never seemed to have the same problem. I suspect the reason is because those Stadiums have a seperate Stadium company unconnected with the leasing clubs, which was supposed to be the same for the DW Stadium when the idea of a joint Stadium was first suggested.

As a result of this disgraceful decision, I will now miss the Huddersfield game as a result of having made other arrangements on the Sunday.

As far as I am concerned, the Warriors were conned by Whelan when he bought the club in order to get his hands on the balance of the money from Tesco for the sale of Central Park after paying off the clubs debts.

If Whelan cared about the Warriors as he claims, why did he not make it clear to the FA that the Latic's game could be accomodated on the Sunday.

p.s. Why was the Blackpool v Latic's not switched to Preston, now that Uncle Mo is in charge there?

An idle question I know but what would Mr Lenigan have done if Huddersfield hadn't kindly agreed to the date swap, played the game at Huddersfield?

Premier League rules state:-
Ground Sharing 4. No Club shall have or enter into a ground-sharing agreement unless the agreement contains
a legally enforceable provision to the effect that the playing of the Club’s League Matches shall always take precedence over the activities of the other party to the agreement.

Doesnt really effect Huddersfield or Hull (any longer) as both play in Football League and not Premier League competitions.

Leicester City have just been forced to move a game because it clashed with a Leicester Tigers match - and they dont even play in the same ground.

Just checked my claendar, and this means I won't be able to go, despite having booked the day off work to get to the game on the Friday, already have things arranged for the Sunday, this situation is dreadful.
Lenegan, stand up to these idiots now or risk the club we all love being walked all over and becoming a laughing stock!
What is the point in the players slogging their guts out only to have the premier league nancy boys to tell them they can't have the home ties they have earned?
