Check what time that was posted, then look at what time my response was made on wiganer.
I have responded on there calling some Wigan Athletic fans soft and pathetic, have I not? Before your post, was it not? Please tell everyone if I responded on there before your post...
You seem to be doing your best to turn this into an argument. The "ridiculous" as you call it comparison was made by someone in tears at the time. Did I not make that obvious???????

Having read your idea a couple of times, i think your sentiment is great, but i feel it will never happen.
Years ago i used to think having two teams being sucessful in wigan was a good thing.
Then i was watching a rugby match in a local pub, and was seriouly verbally abused by a bunch of male lactics fans.
After this and the fact we have to move our games to accomadate the football, we can't play before or after them according to the great mr whelan.
The way the fans of the footy lot keep telling me we are tenants and they don't want us here.
This will not enamour friendship between the two sides.
Good luck to those who go to both matches and can get along, but after my personal experiance i will not be making friends with them. I think there are many like me who feel the same.

Is there not a case to be made for watching SPORT? Be it RL or Soccer you watch either team basically because you like the sport.

Sadly, there are always those who want no more than to cause trouble.
I just hope I have proved we are not all like that.
Good luck and I hope you win the title. I will leave now as some fans look to take exception to me being here, all the best.

I didn't think that got too out of hand W&P. I know people often like their own arguments, but I still feel strongly that the only people who can make any difference are the Latics board, even if all they can say is that they are bound by Premiership rules, but that we remain true co-tenats. I am not losing any sleep over this, but can't see why their management sees the status quo as being in their self interest.
Re: This is posted on blue board as well, I hope you...
the first time I ever came across it was after Widnes/Wigan final, when smoking Joe scored those trys for Widnes. We were that peed off, we made it back to Wigan for about 7.30pm. In the pub was a bloke who I didn't even know supported latics saying, we got back so quick, must have been on Joe Lydons back and that the duggie was blocked with cherry and white scarves, to which my mate said there isn't enough scarves at latics to block the toilet.mickw wrote:it goes back alot longer than that, one of my great grandfathers supported latics and the other wigan rugby, they both took my dad when he was a kid and both would`nt dream of watching the other.my dad settled on wigan rugby and detests latics with a passion so it goes back along way.jobo wrote: I also watched latics, even back to the Northern Premier League. Most of my mates did to. Things changed however, in the late 80's, when apparently Uncle Maurice not only refused them a ground share at Central Park but also cast doubts on their existence as a sporting club. Not sure how much of this is true but lines were drawn and several, usually level headed mates of mine hate the rugby with a passion.
From a personal point of view, yes I do like football but not latics as they currently are, too much venom, bitterness and hatred. The couple of games I've been too, are absolutely filled with it.
having said that, your sentiments are perfect and all other things Wigan come first for me.

Can I just reiterate, this post was specifically to "born & bred" Wiganers.
I was not going to post again, but I just want to let all "Wiganers" know what I am up to.
I have posted letters to Wigan Athletic, Wigan Rugby League, Post & Observer expressing ideas. If anyone wants to know my ideas, I will tell you.
"ancientandloyal"....I dont know if you are serious or sarcastic. I so much want to shout what's wrong with me just to make you take me serious.

why the inclusion of born and bred wiganers only? I was born in bolton as it was closer but was bred a wiganer. My arguments on here, and other people's were my valid reasons as to why two sporting fans dont get along in the minority of cases. It doesn't matter about your own historical experiences which I assume are military or culturally based which has obvious left an affect in your life (eg ex army or jewish for example) which is understandable. I only worded that making a parrellel between two sporting clubs in a small, poor lancastrian town with the world war is quite baffling in scale.
no sarcasm i mean good luck with it. p.s. the 'young man' was ott so apologies
