Good news for some?
Re: Good news for some?
Not really by your logic a team could win the trophy a month + beforehand and have to wait a month to receive the trophy. Trophies are normally always presented at the match/event where they are won. Otherwise the trophy presentation loses impact.
Re: Good news for some?
If the club has a choice it needs to make that choice known now then people can plan what to do.cpwigan wrote:Apparently Wigan can have the League Leaders Trophy presented to them as and when they desire and v Bradford seems the likely choice. Personally, I think it is the wrong time but at least some will have less to complain about.
We already know one long distance fan on here has lost money due to the Hudds game being switched and for some it may well be go to Hudds and not Bradford or the other way around due to cost.
Not everyone can afford to get to all games and so it is only fair IMO that the club let it be known which game the trophy will be presented at (assuming we win v Hudds and have the choice).
I don't have a preference and will go to both anyway but I am sure many would appreciate being able to plan in advance which game to get to.

in the past it has always been the next home game after its won unless at home when won, that was before SL also (I think)BriH wrote:Logic dictates that the Trophy should be presented at the END of the Season surely?

Either way apparently the weather forecast is decent Saturday and Sunday. Better than Friday. As Dave O says either way it would be good if the club made a statement. I cannot imagine SKY deciding to televise the match unless the plate was being presented if/when we defeat Huddersfield. Still this is RL!

Now now, it's only the hubcap if stains win it.warrior49 wrote:Does anyone actually know when we will be presented with the hub cap?
When we win it, it's The League leaders shield.

Observer says the club has opted for the presentation at the Bradford game.
Presumably they will market the event and get more revenue that way.

I do not think the League Leaders Shield is a marketable draw. The minimal numbers attracted to an event by it being presented will be less than the marketing outlay. Odd decision as I thought SKY would want it televised.East Stand Faithful wrote:Observer says the club has opted for the presentation at the Bradford game.

You could be right but why would the club postpone it?Surely it would suit our GF hopes to get it out of the way sooner. We should not be going into the playoffs with celebrations still being fresh.cpwigan wrote:I do not think the League Leaders Shield is a marketable draw. Also it may not be about short term gain. The club maybe trying to attract the casual fan longer term who may be pursuaded to come to more games on the back of success.
