Far too early to make cast iron judgements on Lima but his efforts have been better than Feka's ever were or will be.
CP, you cannot be watching the same game as me. On Sunday Lima missed 3 tackles through lack of speed but the worst effort was when he caught up with Obst and was doing a somewhat ineffectual effort to swing him onto his back like a wet rag totally oblivious to the fact that Obst had passed the ball 30 seconds sooner and play was away across the field, he could of course also have lost us the win with his (just) late tackle on the 49 yard line which allowed Ganson to offer Hull the late missed penalty. Looking at the tackle on Boots all the tries the tackle was really on the 49.5 yard line, Ganson originally was allowing the penalty kick on the 40 yard line until Wigan complained when he pushed it back to the 41 yard line, what a berk!!
It appears that Maguire is not happy either only bringing him on as a replacement prop behind Mossop, I scored him only a 4 but thought hard about him only getting a 3. He needs to improve 50%. Is he big enough at barely 16 stone, how heavy are Prescott, Coley and Mossop?

cherry-pie , if you were right in that Lima consistently did more work than all our props then Madge would start Lima each week and (as has already been mentioned) not bring him on to the pitch last. Madge is big on defence and that is why I think Lima is not being brought on earlier.
I do think Lima is an improvement on Feka but that is not the issue , Lima needs to tighten his defence up. He has been exposed falling off tackles recently. I agree he runs forward well but realistically he is fourth choice prop at the moment and if Fielden were fit it I think Lima would be the one to loose his place going on current form. Obviously only my opinion.
cpwigan wrote:You really are clutching at straws PM. I am not sure Feka even got in position to miss the tackles or commit a penalty. He wobbles around as if he has done it in his shorts. Hauraki ran around him yesterday like he was Brett Kenny at Wembley in 85. When an opposition forward looks that good v you then you have nowhere to go. Salford can hardly play the useless tub of lard and Madge would not even select him. On that basis Lima is already a better player because he is deemed good enough for the Wigan first team.
Lima has already proved just how good he can be in a single game. I worry about fans jumping on a player's back after what 4 games in a team that has injuries etc Fans need to wake up. I could not care less if a player is amaiable and nice to them away from the field of play. Many greats have been bastards off the field and as long as they do the business on the field, break no laws/club rules then I do not care one jot if a player is a nice bloke. I pay to watch a player play RL not to have a chat with him etc.
If Feka had played v St George, they would have beaten use by 30-40 points. If I was that way inclined I would be more concerned about what health Feka will be in post playing career because IMO you will be rapidly looking at 25-30 stone of blubber wobbling around.
You keep harping on at how bad you say Feka was, which is a load of bullsh1t.
When on the pitch the bloke made few errors, gave away mimimal penalties and his tackling improved big style under Madge. His go forward wasnt out of place too.
I see no improvement in this from the signing of Jeff Lima, apart from the fact that Lima can stay on the pitch longer than Iafeta was allowed to do. Feka even said he was capable of, and wanted to stay on the pitch longer and personally I beleive he could have.

Sorry mate but you are talking garbage, Feka was, is and always would have been a liability. He was lazy, usually ineffective when defending and other teams had him sussed bigtime. He was our weak link when teams were attacking us and that meant that other players had to do more work covering for him.

PM, Guess what I never make a mistake for Wigan, neither do you. Might be the same reason why wobbly made relatively few mistakes too
Feka had to be bullied, even when much younger to get him fit. Feka was one of the Islanders that Anderson reduced to tears IIRC when coaching the warriors.
The best we saw of Feka with the ball was when he arrived. Thereafter he went backwards no matter what coaches tried. They tried to shrink him, they let him revert to super size mode but as he gets older he gets more and more ineffective. With ball in hand he is no longer an impact player just a lazy fatty who looks like he has done it in his shorts. Thats the reality of Feka. The same Feka who was useless v Wigan for Salford, the same Feka that was useless v Leeds for Salford.
A liability and one who has not been helped by some fans mollicoddling him. To the contrary.
I genuinely can't believe anyone would think Feka could have played longer. It got to the point sometimes that when he'd step and put his arm out, attempting to make a tackle he'd nearly fall over he was that knackered. Quoting his missed tackles is a red herring too, Lima has already been involved in more tackles as 1st or 2nd man in than Feka ever did and a missed tackle only counts if you get somewhere near to making a tackle in the first place which Feka rarely did. I think a lot of Feka's energy was wasted being a dummy runner or taking the ball too flat and we could probably have used him better but he went from a luxury we could barely afford to a liability only to be used in exceptional circumstances. If I were a betting man I'd say that our props will make less handling errors this year than they did last year. Fielden in particular was always imo more likely to drop the ball or miss a tckle when he'd been expected to play longer to cover for Feka.

I have a couple of books about Wigan and one in particular,
Mud Blood and Glory has a chapter in it that suggests that when Kelvin Skerret first came to Wigan he came in for the same stick that Lima is facing now.........Look how he turned out :badg: :badg: let's give him time to settle
I'm leaning towards Feka. OK, he was only used strategically but he did what was asked of him. Lima has already had a 2 match ban with another on its way. And when he's playing he's no bloody use!
cpwigan wrote:KW, IIRC, Feka spent most of last season not playing. On that basis Lima has a long way to go before he is anwhere near as poor and he never will be.
He's done nothing to excite me so far. And on current form, Feka would be far more 'available' than Lima is looking to be!
