He did not deserve to be sin binned for that tackle, this occurs every week in games and it was a poor decision,He has not impressed me yet but it is early days so give the lad a chance.
Re: Lima's an idiot
We need to give Lima a chance. His attitude and dedication strike me as first class and you need to look at a player for half a season, maybe more before making judgements IMO.
I do wonder if Lima would be better starting matches.

I agree CP. I feel that the loss of weight is certainly having an impact on his offensive performance.
All in all he is a steady performer at the moment. He does his fair share of tackling, takes the ball up regulary and consistently makes yards. Perhaps we all anticipated more than we are currently getting and as a result we have set the bar too high for him. As long as he performs consistently well and complements our other props I am happy. We need a good platform up front and that is what we are getting, our attack will start to flow if we continually get on top of the opposing 6.

Re: Lima's an idiot
He shouldn't have done it. It was stupid and very bad technique. Don't think though that he was being malicious but the problem is, it was on TV, with action replay slowed down hair dye and baldy acting as judge and jury.
Lima will come good but at the moment he's looking like the proverbial quality street toffee, wrapped in a fine outer but
disappointing when you actually eat it. This is especially so now that we've sent Ben Davies off on a jaunt.

It seems to be on the increase thoughSean Long was sent off with four minutes to go for an apparent elbow-led tackle, moments after he had returned from the sin bin.
"If you're going to sin bin people for that, sin bin everyone, not just one and be selective," Agar added.
"Sean Long has been dead-set cleaned out on their line at the end there, not even a penalty. Absolutely cleaned out around the head, the same as he was on the sin-bin. Absolutely baffling. They couldn't even get the clock stopped properly.
"I've had the benefit of watching it on video and when he (Long) went in to score that try he was cleaned out. Plain and simple cleaned out, and he said he didn't know where he was.
"He said he tried to shoulder charge a tackle and from what I saw he completely missed contact. A player of Castleford has ran 50 metres and begged for him to be sent off, which is ordinary.

I thought the ruling was to stop players putting any undue pressure on leg joints etc which can lead to serious injury.gpartin wrote:Absolutely nothing his first impct was with the top of the leg and he slid down. The Leeds players made a mountain out of a mole hill and bought the sin bin.
What I saw of Lima in that tackle certainly put pressure on the leg joints.
I do agree the Leeds players minced it over the top.

May as well say tackling is only allowed above the waist then.Panchitta Marra wrote:I thought the ruling was to stop players putting any undue pressure on leg joints etc which can lead to serious injury.gpartin wrote:Absolutely nothing his first impct was with the top of the leg and he slid down. Any tackle anywhere near a joint will put undue pressure on it, unless you happen to tackle directly on the joint, in the same plane as the natural movement of that joint.
It seems to me to be another rule designed to penalise a tackling method that Wigan happen to do better than everyone else.

I am with Morph on this. I know it has become an apparent issue. Didn't Sam get in trouble for ttacking Cunnigham's knee?
I fear the worst for Lima but IMO he did nothing wrong and whatsmore you see countless players make similar efforts every match. Westwood (Warrington) for example. I would take a video of the weekends matches and say if you ban Lima then you have to ban 30+ other players, maybe more.

Re: Lima's an idiot
“Lima tackled round thigh and slipped down” - that's exactly what I saw and in addition to this when he slipped down any pressure on the knee can only have lasted a fraction of a second because he ended up with his arms round nothing. He could therefore be guilty of putting pressure on the joints for this short period but certainly not 'undue' pressure by any stretch of the imagination. If he gets a ban based on the chicken wing before its an absolute joke. I understand the purpose of the ruling completely and we don't want to see players getting torn ligaments or dislocations but this was nothing and the fact that he was sinbinned might even help. If he does get a ban its an admission that he should have been sent off rather than sinbinned, ie the ref got it wrong, can't ever remember this happening when a card has been given. When Coley was wrongly sinbinned last year at Leeds they didn't even admit that was incorrect.

Would the sinbinning be considered his punishment or can he receive further punishment?gpartin wrote: I understand the purpose of the ruling completely and we don't want to see players getting torn ligaments or dislocations but this was nothing and the fact that he was sinbinned might even help.
