Really hit home tonight.....
Re: Really hit home tonight.....
Typing it on here Tony and sharing your thoughts is a good process and from experience I think you are making a good decision use your resettlement wisely and keep your chin up, on a final note identify 2-3 areas of work that would interest you it took me 18months to adjust and thats similar to everyone I know who has done a stint in the forces!

Well said Tony...sometimes it's almost a kind of therapy to write your feelings down,it's a bit like writing a diaryTonyH wrote:So tonight I gave my wife a call from out here in Afghan she is already in bed, our 4 year old son is in bed next to her (silly habit she's got him in to since i left)
Anyways she said that before she went to sleep she kisses the picture she has of me on her mobile phone and says good night babe. Apparantly after she did that my 4 year old burst in to tears saying he misses his Daddy, I must admit when she told me I had a lump in my throat and it really hit home with me. Being out here for 4 months has been really tough, I'm a family man and being away from them for this amount oftime has taken its toll, so much so that I'll be leaving the forces when I get back. I want my son to settle somewhere, get friends who he can grow up with etc. Rather than living somewhere for a few years then moving on. The Military's been good to me but it's time to go and put the ones who mean most to me first.
I have no idea why I typed all that out on here but I just did it on a whim :conf:
hope it helped you?. Nothing wrong with expressing your thoughts and feelings to all of us.It's like a big extended
family on these forums. (unless someone disagrees with you,and then you get taken to task, but that's not very often)

Not much longer to go,then you can start to plan your life again :smil:

Any thoughts on what you'd like to do when you get back mate? Long hours, being ordered around and not seeing your family........You'd be a perfect Copper

good luck mate as en ex squaddie i know how you feel..it took me ages to re adapt to civie life but i managed it just woke up one morning when i was in port stanley and thought theres more to life than this cae homespent last 3 years of my service at sandhurst then when 1 son came along thought need to get out settle down..a decision made easier by the amalgamation of my regiment making me redundant...takes a lot to make the decision to leave the security of a job..but hope your last 4 months go by safely and you can return home to your family safe and hopefully into a secure job..

Short term when I get back it will be a case of locking meself and the wife in the house for 24 hours

Spoil the kids rotten in Toys R Us.
Play my first game of RL in 4 months on Tuesday!.
Long term I finish my degree and hopefully become a PE teacher, until then it will be Tiling and Bathroom fitting and a massive weight lifted off my shoulders

Up The Mont!
