Re: Would you like to see Rangi Chase at Wigan?
The more I see of him this season the more I think he isnt the right man for the job.
Last season and looking for a new contract he was playing well.
This season with the contract in the bag and all you see is his attitude coming out, hell he wants to take on Manny Pacquiao with that edge.
He had Jeff Lima and Epalahame Lauaki by the throat, seems he wants to set his pecking order before he even comes to Wigan (If).
As Bourbon has said, and I agree, he wouldnt be a first choice half in any NRL team, and maybe thats why he is over here.

Nasty little thug, proved last night with his stupid shoulder to the head after tackle completed.
We have enough reasons for other teams supporters to hate us, without employing a player that is genuinely dirty.
We really must have better options.
If we are going to offer a club buckets of money for a player, Dureau is a far better option.

Thought exactly the same Exile, Chase's attitude stinks at the moment.exile in Tiger country wrote:Nasty little thug, proved last night with his stupid shoulder to the head after tackle completed. We have enough reasons for other teams supporters to hate us, without employing a player that is genuinely dirty.

Cheap cowardly shot on Tangi Ropati breaking his jaw isnt the type of player I want to pay money to watch.
Re: Would you like to see Rangi Chase at Wigan?
I voted No. Mainly because i think he is an individual type player that will struggle to fit into a team based game plan where he isn't the go-to man all the time. Also, would he fit into a structured attack - would he disrupt it or enhance it? I also have nmy doubts about his character on the field.
But, I do think there is a chance that he could be exceptional at Wigan. If you add his unpredicatbility and flair into our strcutured attack you could get the best of both worlds? Henry Paul was a signing that often we had no idea what he would do, and he worked out very nicely. If we can get the balance right and he can work within our systems it could be a great move. However, it could also be another Dennis Moran situation - a square peg in a round hole. I guess we'll just have to trust the coaching staff to make the right calls.
One question, If Tommy was out for the year (which he looks like he isn't thank god) and Chase is unsettled and we are going to pay a fee anyway - what are the chances of getting him here midseason?
One upside of Tommy's injury is taht maybe the youngsters will get that chance to prove if they can cut it before we have to finalise any big money moves.

I would agree with this, he is obviously a skillful player but mentally there are to many concerns, especially if they are going to spend a large amount of money to sign him. Too much risk involved.Mike wrote:I voted No. Mainly because i think he is an individual type player that will struggle to fit into a team based game plan where he isn't the go-to man all the time. Are you Rangi Chase? I would rather give Mellor/Powell a shot, I'd rather sign Gaskell, Ratchford, Pearce, Soward, Sandow and could go on I threw 3 aussies in their who aren't even Oz internationals because if we are paying a big fee for Chase then he will demand big bucks for wages as he would be in the driving seat so why not offer a class Aussie the salary instead. If you want to be unrealistic JT, Cronk, Johnson, Carney, Barba etc etc etc Rangi Chase isn't in the top ten of half backs in the world yet Wigan are in the top 3-5 clubs in the world IMOpieater-alex wrote:Swap Sam Tomkins with Rangi Chase, putting Sam Tomkins in that Castleford team and would you be saying the same things about Sam? Re: Would you like to see Rangi Chase at Wigan?
After Saturday's debacle & ultimate Tommy injury I tried to gauge on Widnes forums how Mellor is performing. I drew a blank with the exception of one post were a fan had listed SL players off contract at the end of season. Mellor's name was there but it wasn't highlighted as was, shall we say Finch, amongst others as desirable signings. Now, can anybody clarify this situation re. his performances?
Furthermore Wes, are those players you mention available?
Alex, for me, makes a sensible point, but as always, the proof is in the pudding as well as the price paid!

That's my point Rangis not available hence the fee.... Rangi is at the age where development would be at a slow pace, the English players mentioned are all young excellent talents with lots of improvement in them the Aussies are all better than Chase.Wandering Warrior wrote:After Saturday's debacle & ultimate Tommy injury I tried to gauge on Widnes forums how Mellor is performing. Think about it if we are offering massive figures for him to Cas then he will know we want him and demand a mega wage, not good for a 27yr old who needs a lot of work, you pay the big bucks to the Finches, Sowards etc
