Can't see for a second why he wants to do this.

If I didn't have a family I would have moved my business to OZ too.

Fantastic player who will be very much missed, and wish him the very best, but we managed before without him and we will survive without him in 2016.

Players come and go, some players will return, others wont.

I like the idea too that junior players should have to do 3 years with the club, but what if that player simply didnt have his heart or head with the club anymore - would we really want that player not at their best?

It is what it is and I wish him all the luck
I don't know what your business is but if all your best employees left (assuming you have some that is and you are not a one man business) and the ones you had to replace them with were poorer, would this not be of concern?
Yes and no.

Yes id miss them, yes it would be frustrating etc BUT id rather have staff that want to work for me than those that dont. No matter how well paid or trained somebody is, if their heart isn't in their job, youll never get 100%. Ok so Budgie at 50% is pretty darn good, but most (not all) can be replaced at some point. Companies and clubs of any game have staff turn over, yet they survive, albeit in cycles. You have good years and not so good years.

Im by no means saying I want budgie to go, I think hes fantastic and will leave a big hole, but that hole will eventually be filled by some fresh talent (whole will then leave for the NRL!)

Burgess NRL deal confirmed

JOE Burgess will leave Wigan at the end of the year to move to the NRL, it was confirmed tonight.

Rugby manager Kris Radlinski said his pending departure - which was widely-expected - was “a sad one for us all”.

But the disappointment was soothed by news halfback Sam Powell and young prop Ryan Sutton had agreed new four-year deals.

And in a potential further boost, Radlinski revealed the Warriors are in talks with Dan Sarginson, Josh Charnley, Anthony Gelling and Ryan Hampshire about new, long-term deals.

Winger Burgess - a sensation throughout 2014 - has been linked with Sydney Roosters since last October, and his exit will not come as a shock.

Radlinski said Wigan did “all we could” to retain the 20-year-old, who was lured by the Australian lifestyle.

“Joe won’t be here next year, which is a sad one for us all,” he explained. “We did all we could, and started conversations about a year ago, when he scored four tries against Leigh.

“About halfway through the year I said, ‘Do you want us to put our best offer to you?’

“He said he wanted the Sydney lifestyle. It’s a big step - but he is totally committed this year and he won’t let us down.”

Powell was attracting interest from the Roosters before he signed his extension.

Sutton’s new deal was signed last night, just before a fans’ forum at the DW Stadium in which chairman Ian Lenagan also revealed the club lost nearly £500,000 last year - and outlined the plans for the future.

See tomorrow’s Post for Lenagan’s vision for the future.

Typical arrogant Aussie reporting :(

If that fresh talent is as good, they will also leave. Why would they stay? The idea the production line can replace players relies on the fact they stay here. This used to work twenty years ago but this idea seems out of date now.

Also, if you had invested years of effort and money in an apprentice and as soon as he was out of the apprenticeship he left at the earliest opportunity would the only issue be he wasn't committed to your company?

How many more apprentices would you train up for the benefit of others before you you thought, sod it, I have had enough of this?

I really enjoyed watching Burgess last season and if Hampshire makes a similar entry into the team this season any contract will mean nothing and in all likelihood we won't be able to keep him either.

This is not about Burgess and him wanting a Sydney lifestyle or whatever but about Wigan RL's future.

It's not bad news for RL though, if he was going to Union then that would hurt but the fact he is coming to Oz is good news imo.

When I was 42 I had a job in the waiting in Australia, for a big Oil/Gas supplier based on the East coast. I was going through the 457 visa application and the mrs got cold feet.
With respect to her family I pulled out of my application.
I now see this as personally the biggest mistake that I have made in my working career if not the biggest Misjudgement I have made in life.
Of course Joe moving on leaves a massive gap in the Wigan team another massive talent leaving the club that I too will be disappointed at not seeing in Cherry and White. On the other side of the coin I see nothing but good things for Joe in his new career venture, an adventure he wants to take forward, so I say good luck to the lad and hope be fulfils his dream.

Any different than young Aussie players like Dobson coming to Super League.

With there being more money in the NRL and Union, Burgess is not the first and will not be the last player to leave our game.

As for Burgess, I think success of one season has gone to his head and he will find it a lot harder than what it is in our game and I only hope they don't ruin him.

I don't give a monkey's nut his reasons or the crap that comes from the clubs pr machine. It's like me putting thousands of pound into my car and then selling it for peanuts. What about loyalty by JB. He comes on the scene for a season and a half scores some cracking tries and then thinks he and the Nrl think he'super star.Wigan do the pooch thing and roll over allowing the likes of Crowe to kick them in the nuts instead of giving them a big bone as a reward. It's about time Wigan made these young players honour the contract they signed upto to get them noticed in the first place. I really don't give a toss about the flack I will get from others on this forum. It's my right to say what I think and I think show some bloody Loyalty to the club and the supporters for a change. And stop giving us the usual rubbish answers etc etc etc.Whats the point of a contract if people are not going to honour it. Right then. Let the insults fly.
