I dont think thinkn they are fitter stronger or bigger. They certanly arent as skillful.
Deleted the rest of the bickering as you make a valid point
I posted a while back that all the smellies are interested in are big and fast players, if they have any skill then "even better", BUT they openly admit the skill shortage will be made up from signings from overseas (and we witness that with them bringing in Burns and Walsh)
It is a shame players with natural skill and talent are not given more providence and I sincerely hope that the drop in the number of interchanges is the prelude to this rather than just swapping big, plodders with more big plodders (which is all teams pretty much seem to do now)
So we won thanks to a shite Hull team , i wonder, if Rocky had played, how many would be saying we won because of Rocky?, would we be hearing chants of all hail Rocky :eusa16: , he obviously has an attitude problem if he's only being used as cover for a 32 year old, REMEMBER No player is bigger than the club

I always think it is the combination of the two medlocke. If your opponents do not miss a tackle and also make very few errors that make them very difficult to break down and score against .
At that point it comes down to your own teams skill levels and ability to break down your opponents defensive structures. Bowen's first try was an excellent example. Great skill, perfect timing and handling combined with support play
Hull by their own admission were dire but you still have to beat such teams and it was fairly close for 15 minutes but after that it was a stroll. Radford on the basis of last night is a very poor coach.

Pat Richards' time at Wigan couldn't have been too bad when he's been one of Wests top players. Josh Hodgson was never on the radar in SL but he's been excellent for Canberra, as have a couple of forwards from Hull (sorry, can't remember their names - one's at Roosters). Then Mike Cooper couldn't hold down a place at Warrington but he's become one of St Georges top forwards, starting every game. Fa'olongo (sic) was ok as an impact player off the bench at Hudds, but he starts every game for the Knights, as does Clint Newton from HKR. Our own Eddie Petty, who we were glad to see the back of, is a mainstay in the Gold Cst pack. Going off the list I don't think playing in SL has done any harm to any of the above players.
When you throw in England's performances in the 4 Nations against a top Kiwis team and the Aussies in their back yard, we were only a debatable finger on the ball from defeating them.
All this doesn't seem to add up to our comp being completely inferior, and when you throw in the Super 8/middle 8s the extra competitive nature of the games will continue to drive standards upwards. Just my opinion.
The expansion of the NRL has necessitated overseas recruits, even bringing back ageing NRL players who were/are playing in the UK but your assumptions are way off the mark and if you go down that route NZ must have improved far more than Britain given how many NZers / SE Islanders play in the NRL.
Moreover, whilst SL is not an amazing competition that does not equate to ever player being useless. Individually, many players have the potential to play in the NRL. We (Britain) even used to sign French players from the dreadful domestic competition; Entat, Fraisse Et Al

You obviously never played sport to a decent level. Winners are never satisfied with mediocrity WIN or lose. Stupid fans are blinded by a result!
How wrong can you be? I absolutely guarantee 100% that I played sport at a higher level than you!! You shouldn't make statements like that when you don't have a clue who you are conversing with!! Stupid fans come on forums and make sweeping statements without any facts!!
I doubt it but hey if you had I would keep quiet as it makes you look even more stupid.

Personally I've played sport at a higher level than Ellery Hanley.
NWCSL Div 3! He never even made it into the NWCSL. (Although he did mentally coach the World number 1).
Its a very cagey conversation going on at the moment. Its probably simpler to say exactly where / when people played their sport if you are using that as evidence to support your points - rather than implying that you have played something at some level.

We all know whos post instigated the conversation by being insulting again!! Like I said I know what I have achieved in my chosen/main sport and it is way beyond a 'decent' level!! I won't say anymore as it gets childish but the arrogance of one poster inparticular is becoming unbearable which is a shame because as I have always said his knowledge is astounding at times and I always respect his opinion even if he doesn't reciprocate!! Anyway let's move on!!
