The decision will have been made not only by Wane but by the conditioning team headed by Mark Bitcon. I trust their judgement far more than the opinions of a few know nowts on here.

Do you really believe that?LooseHead wrote:Ive been told on good authority that certain players around SL both now and over the past couple of years have it in their contract that they do not play on anything other than grass pitch - maybe Sam is one?

I don't, if it was a semi-final they would all play on that surface.Aaron C. Slight swelling of the knee has been mentioned, could be the precautionary Duty of Care against risking him playing on that plastic pitch.OAMJSON wrote:he should bloody well play he as been out a long time and defo needs match time
Re: Sam to miss Widnes
If this pitch is such a danger of injuries to players why is it down

Because it is used by different organisations to play on in any weather without worry of cancellation or damage and is a great revenue maker, it is considered by the RFL suitable to play rugby league on.Suzieb wrote:If this pitch is such a danger of injuries to players why is it down

Was asking the same thing today. Doesn't make sense that there are more injuries on this pitch than others, as that would mean the team who play on it the most (half their games), would have far more injuries than everyone else.Firestarter wrote:Why do widnes not seem to get a lot of injuries?if the surface is so bad
It does make sense to rest Sam if he's got a problem with his knee. We'll need him fit right up to our last game, which is hopefully the grand final.
Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

We didn't play Matty Bowen at Widnes because of his knees IIRC?
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.

that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
