Gildart was pushing up. The only way for Ferres to complete the tackle, was to push him back down. It's unfortunate Gildart got injured, but a 4 game would be harsh IMO. Ferres has had a checkered past, but he's a victim of circumstances here.

The tackle wasn't complete. Gildart was still trying to promote the ball. He was facing the wrong way to be playing the ball. If he was playing the ball he would just have rolled over... unless he was trying to steal yards. Which is getting penalised.

If Ferres gives up on the tackle before the ref calls held and the opposition break from it, he gets a bollocking from his coach. He pushed down a bit too far. As I've stated, the ref didn't even pick up on it. There are small margins in this game. That's probably when the punishment is bang down the middle of the band.

I've never stated he did nothing. I was responding to the 'just pure intent' comment. One incident is the result of one man being stronger than the other in a tackle. The other is an atrocious example to be setting to children.
