Joel Tomkins and I can understand as his knees are shot and they have that plastic pitch but leaving Faz out as well as Sam Tomkins goes a long way to neutering our attack. Faz is key to making many breaks often from in our own half that set us on the way to a score.

Why Wane can't just rest one or two like most coaches would do? What is wrong with playing a stronger side, putting the game to bed and then taking the likes of Faz off for the last 1/4 or whatever? He's got four subs he can use to rest players.
From what I've heard, Faz has rolled his ankle. Yes, Joel with his knees & Flower because of his achilles. Has Sam Tomkins ever played at Widnes ????

Just seen this;

Sam Tomkins (foot), Ben Flower (Achilles) and Liam Farrell (rolled ankle) drop out of the squad tonight to either protect – or prevent aggravating previous – injuries. “I’m not going to embarrass myself and say it’s the same as grass – it’s not,” said Wane. “It’s a different surface, there’s not much give. “Sam trained on a 4G in pre-season and he pulled up with a sore foot, Faz rolled his ankle and that’s not the best surface for him to play on, and it’s not worth the risk playing Ben.

Hopefully Shaun Wane, seeing as he's the coach and knows what's going on and isn't making assumptions based on fresh air.

It is SW! I do understand some of what DaveO says but at the end of the day the full season is more important than an away match at Widnes on a ridiculous pitch!

I agree that Waney should be resting a few players. I'd rest Lockers as well. I know that Widnes always make an extra effort against us but they're likely to finish in the bottom three and we should be able to take them. What's the point of having a strong squad if we don't use it? I'm not a fan of only throwing the 'squad' players in when we're badly hit by injuries. They need regular game time whenever possible if we want them to be able to play in a big game later in the season. If Gabe, Romain, Morgan and others expect to be in the first team regularly they have to be able to perform against Widnes.

I agree with Wane that we shouldn't risk anyone with niggles on that surface.

But Widnes shouldn't be able to get away with it. They know most teams turn up weakened due to the pitch and its an unfair advantage. All the other teams should vote against it and make them get rid. My Son's team recently played in the G4 at Preston and the injuries the team got was unreal.

If Faz is injured then fair enough. Wane has made a habit of resting players v Widens and getting caught out but if he has no choice, he has no choice.
