He seemed effective in short bursts.I think Godwin + Higham will share the hooking role for that reason (if he's not at Hull that is)

We wont play with 2 hookers, we dont need to. So thats the Godwin issue sorted.
Millward never really said Higham will suit his style better, he just rates Higham as a better player. No matter how much we argue or discuss whether we think its true or not doesnt matter one bit, thats his reasoning and that is your answer to why Millward signed him.

Can't say that really does solve the problem, we still HAVE two hookers, both of whom are being paid, so we're paying wagga to be a water boy or play out of position or what?
It's called strength in depth, something we didnt have last season, incase you forgot.

Hopefully it will be strength in depth as he's missed most of the last two seasons with injuries. Hopefully he'll not be one of those players who spends more time with the physio than on the field.

I think Newton was as if not more versatile-he has played back row.

Newton has played back row you're right, he wore number 11 in his first season at Leeds, but he swapped to hooker and hasnt really played there since. Thats 5 years ago. Higham has played scrum half plenty of times within the last 18 month at Saints.
I would say Higham has the versatility battle won there, wouldnt you Louise ?

he has played scrum half and hes also a 80 minute player most hookers can play the full 80 its just must teams hav two hookers and they are interchanged with each other, so the only reason u hav never seen him play 80 minutes is because saints play two hookers so hes interchanged with cunningham

Saints played with two hookers? Was that when IM was there? If so that solves the debate about two hookers. I think having two hookers is a good idea. You have one hooker's style of play, his speed, his tackling ability, passing and everything else. The opposition team gets used to that then you through in a new player same position but different and is not tired. This can throw the defense off. It happened this season Newton would come off and Godwin would go on and he would instantly make a break and create some good flowing play.

Just when the other team gets used to the play...you flip everything on its head.

We all understand the thinking behind it, its just why would he play 2 hookers of the same style ?. That was my point, nobody has really answered it though as yet. Hooker isnt like prop were you get tired out, hookers used to play the full 80 up until a few years ago and everyone began to copy the Aussies and using Craig Wing as an impact player.
Hookers can last 80 minutes easily, they have done for god knows how many years up until recent seasons, I for one would sooner have 2 props, a back rower and a back on the bench rather than play 2 hookers of the same style. It makes much more sense to me to cover more postions, rather than have 2 players who play the same way interchanging for no reason.
