You are absolutely spot on. We have every reason to expect the very best this season and this tripe is totally unacceptable. I don't care how we managed to be clear at half time (we certainly didn't deserve it) but to capitulate in the way we did was nothing short of disgusting.

Sorry Martin but I'm afraid you do. All I have done is express my opinion that our performance against Leeds was not good enough. I don't equate this to "giving up", even if you do. If I (or others) had truly given up I wouldn't be posting, would I?

people are giving up hope alread,FACT. was it only a few days ago most were saying we wouldnt beat leeds and we didnt but that is a form of giving up hope, thinking in your head that wigan would lose is like saying they are no longer capable of doing anything. you need to be a bit mroe optomistic.

I think some of our younger posters need a more contemporary reference than Doris Stokes!!

Only 17000 early on in the season, thats not a bad crowd at all and I'll tell you now that those 17000 are probably loyal wiganers that will turn up win or lose not just when they get into a cup final.we_need_a_coach posted:
Great first half, which game did you go to, we where hammered for 30 mins, winning 16 nil at halftime but the writing was on the wall, we are not good, skillfull or quick enough, o'loughlin is not a capain. Leeds just waited for the mistakes, this is going to be a very long season, worse start than even last year.
and only 17000 at the JJB, we will become small change in Wigan before long !

We did deserve to be winning that first half and I think it was you that went to a different game cause I dont remember being hammered. Wigan had most of the possession and played some good rugby.
We didn't deserve to win the game as our second half was absolutely awful.

Re: How can we loose that?
not agreed. i disagree as i think we deserved to go in at 16-0 and it wasnt just luck. the first halof was bossed by us and we actually looked like we had ideas and creativity with ball in hand. leeds didnt score because they werent good enough nor could they break our defense. fair enough senior dropped the ball on the line but i think us going in at half time 16-0 was a team effort and it was a fantastic performance. the tries that we bagged werent lucky, we didnt accidentally cross the line. leeds couldnt handle us in the first half and if it was the same in the second i think we would have won but that wasnt the casepie eaters posted:Doug Stand posted:thanks Pie Eaters... but you can call me Doug... sounds a bit formal with the Stand.pie eaters posted:
Our half backs are not up to the same standard as the top clubs in super league and ive got to agree with you Doug Stand
Bradford- Harris/Deacon
St Helens- Long/Pryce
Hull- Horne/ Cooke
Leeds- Burrow/ McGuire
Warrington- Sullivan/ Briers
I think the above says it all![]()
Anyway... if you look at the not so top teams, London, Wakefield and Huddersfield... well they have better halves than we do also.
It is a problem![]()
Ok Doug i agree it is a problem and when teams with better halves which are most they seem to look far more dangerous and look like scoring but when Orr or Moran get the ball i aint as confident and i dont expect much. The first half against Leeds if we are being honest we were lucky to be in the lead and the scoreline flattered the performance. They could of had three tries themselves so i was counting my lucky stars we went in like we did.

i cant believe this. we were on the back foot a few times thats all but we were pushing leeds and the scoreline told that story. i thinkt he first half was ours. we were better in defense than leeds and our attack was better as the scoreline said. the scoreline may have been flattering but the players werent fit enough to keep it together in the second half and just like the les catalans game around the 60 minute mark we died off.pie eaters posted:
Was you watching the same game? Leeds bossed the first half all the way through and the scoreline that we went in with flattered us enormously, i was thankful for going in sixteen nil up but we didnt deserve to. We hardly got field position and Leeds were always threatening.

Re: How can we loose that?
They did well in the first 40, but I have to admit I didn't feel confident they would win the game at half-time. I said to my mate 10 minutes into the 2nd half, that Leeds looked stronger and fitter, but still, t'was an improvement wasn't it.

I wasn't as fit or strong as before but my two biggest muscles still worked - my heart and my head - Kris Radlinski.

Re: How can we loose that?
young psycho we had a 15 minute purple patch in the first half were we dominate and scored 16 points. yes our overall defense was better but for the other 25 minutes they were all over us they kept us trapped in our own half for much of that first half.
in the second half again we had a purple patch for 10 minutes and we didnt score and the other 30 they were all over us again tougher in defence more dangerous with ball in hand etc.
our overall performance showed we didnt deserve to win as we wasnt good enough.
