Time will tell, as surely French must be fit enough by now. We were told repeatedly that he was keeping very fit when in Oz, so he should be in the mix in the next couple of weeks. We will see soon enough what works and what doesn’t work. My concern is to deploy our squad in a way that gives us the widest range of attacking options, while playing players in positions they are comfortable in.

French at 1, Field at 6, Leuluai/Smith at 7 and Cust at 9. All of these players have played in these positions at NRL level. With Mago and KPP’s offload games, we can be exciting to watch. And it has been a long long time since we could argue we had a very entertaining team.

French and Field can play full back and wing with their pace and evasion, I'm not sure if either could play centre? We know French can play at 6 but he has been hit and miss there.

I think if we can dominate in the forwards then they can play halfback but we won't allways have that dominance.

It’s as clear as day Cust is a 9 and would be a far better option than Powell but it’s another case of round pegs square holes and our attacking game is suffering as a consequence :x

Didn’t Mago make 50-60m in his short cameo and had a 9m per carry average?

Even so you can’t be happy with 18 minutes surely? Not when Havard who’s been out for awhile playing for longer and looking a lot fitter. I’m a Mago fan, I just think he can do a lot better for us.

Despite his good points I'm afraid that Mago seems to be one of those players with limited stamina that we won't ever be able to increase significantly. If the rest of our props are able to play longer minutes Mago can play a useful role this season so long as we play him in short spells either side of half time with then perhaps a few minutes at the end of the game. I don't think we'll get more than that out of him. Just playing him in the second half isn't the way to get the most time from him. I know some people think that it's 'just his style' to look knackered and he could be left on the pitch for longer but I've watched him closely and seen him at pitchside when he comes off and believe me he's knackered.

i think the club are playing this one bang on

He's been out the game for over 12 months, plus the emotional effect of his mothers death.

He was rushed back last year, and as a club we paid for it, so i have no issue with taking their time this year, as we are 5 wins from 6, and having him back fully fit (hopefully with a couple of reserve games under his belt), should hopefully help us see the best of him again

His mothers death should have no bearing on when he plays again now he’s back here. Most people get two weeks bereavement leave and then are expected back at work. The club has been very accommodating and now he’s back I am sure he himself would rather be playing. Why he isn’t is a bit of a mystery.

Why move Field? He’s the best full back in SL by a stretch.
Because we have the other best full back in super league to fit in the team?

French and Field categorically cannot play centre.

Let’s not start this one.

How do you know Mago wasn’t injured and that’s why he did minimal minutes?

How do you know it wasn’t linked to Peets game plan?

Until Peet comes out and says Mago isn’t fit enough to do bigger minutes we cannot really say.
