It wasn’t even a penalty so there should have been no action, just simply play on. The referee has penalised Wigan twice (penalty and yellow card) for a perfectly good tackle.

Re: Leeming
It was never a penalty, and you can't get penalised for the sins of others when you didn't sin. Team warnings should only be for persistent off side, next one to transgress is off.
The play acting (Richie Myler syndrome) needs to be clamped down on, the Catalan cheat went down like he'd been hit by a bus when in fact there was only the slightest legitimate contact thus drawing attention in a desperate bid to get Leeming sent off. The RFL desperately need to address the current trend in too readily sending people off, and instead concentrate on keeping thirteen a side on the pitch. Most of the reds or not serious foul play, so put them on report and let the panel sort it later.
It has just been mentioned by Firestarter that he is considering throwing his hand in, this was also said to me by a saints season ticket holder, he has had enough of the amount of inconsistent yellows, reds & suspensions being dished out. He is considering not renewing next year, because has he put it there are enough players missing through injury without officialdom adding to the problem.

Re: Leeming
No further action...............unless of course Kendall (and the official unidentified who reported it) have been summonsed for tea and biscuits.
Re: Leeming
I still say,
1. Refs are clamping down harder and harder on late, or indeed, any contact on kickers these days. The time when halves had to expect getting splattered every time they kicked away are long gone. This applies in both the the NRL and SL. Everyone knows this, including the players.
2. In the light of that, and considering the score-line at the time, it was a damn-fool thing for Leeming to do. Why give the ref the chance to penalise? So that you can bleat that it's unfair, and the ref got it wrong?

Disagree with point 2, Leeming did nothing wrong.moto748 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 3:19 pm I still say,

Taking it further, then we better never tackle anyone so the ref can also not penalise.
Kick pressure is about getting in the eyeline of the kicker etc, he did that well. Ref was just determined to penalise Wigan and sinbin someone.

Leeming, no further action by the panel (if they even reviewed it?)

Re: Leeming
Hope the VR feels suitably chastised! Gave totally the wrong info to the ref.
Leeming wasn't late, not high and was not an illegal tackle.
It was not a penalty let alone an offence which warranted a sin binning.
The VR should have told the match ref no offence and re-start with Field playing the ball.
Trouble is fans as old as me have seen this performance from match officials for decades.
Home crowd gets on the refs back. Ref starts to penalise the opposition/away team, eventually sin binning an away team player. The crowd cheers and are immediately off the referees back!
It's almost routine!

Re: Leeming
I'm still not entirely clear on who's supposed to have the final word, but it usually seems to me, in most cases, that it's the VR effectively telling the on-field ref what to do.
