I disagree with you Rob re referees. I am convinced that every referee is getting fatigued as the game progresses and that as fatigue sets in they give less decisions and some make more mistakes. My impression is that referees award far more penalties in the first 20/30 minutes and that the team that controls possession in that period will gain a huge advantage. I would be interested to see the stats for when referees award penalties.
I didn't say anything to the contrary. Of course they tire as the half goes on and are likely to make more mistakes.

I also agree that most penalties are awarded in the first 20 minutes. At the beginning of the game the referee gets an idea of how the game is going to be played and will give penalties so the players know how the game will be officiated. Very often the players learn what will not be tolerated and tidy their game up, hence there being less penalties late on.

As for yesterday, I don't think Silverwood was tight enough early on with sloppy play and as a consequence he couldn't penalise sloppy play for the entire game.

You can always name examples of where we were penalised for something borderline and the opposition got off with something apparently blatent. It works both ways though, there were several times yesterday when we were miles away from being square and got away with even making a tackle and yet they were penalised for some similar but marginal infringements.

Did look like Dalls's hamstring. Think thats curtains for him with us now. Its funny about the last descision as the ref had the best view called it then bottled it when he was confronted by the Wire players. Touchy should have communicated it at first or flagged it (flagging it is just to get the refs attention nothing else) and he did neither as he was running down the main Wire stand and caved in to pressure too. Knock on first try obstruction the second was very, very clear from our end.
Lockers gave away 4 penalties in a 10 minute spell. I know he does a lot of tackilng but nearly 20% of them today gave away penalties. Thats not good enough

P&B do you attend all our game? I can tell you that the 1st half was our poorest in A LONG TIME. Noble says the first 20 was a return to the bad old days. But hey what does Brian Noble know compared to you.

We played poorly. Our attack was poor we did not build enough pressure. Do not kid yourself. Your team is reliant upo the kicking of Briers and the running of Gleeson. The only pack member likely to get in other SL teams is Wood.

Flash when Mac knocked on it was Tickle who picked the ball up in an offside position. He had to do so IMO.

ironically, had we kicked our penalty in the first half instead of running it we would have won IMO. I think it is the first time we have turned away 2pts in several matches.

to many mistakes were made to cause us to lose and as for the decision on the penalty to win the game we will never know whether that should or should not have been.

on the topic of dallas he seemed to look injured earler on and should have been taken of at that point but also the rest of the wigan squad should have realised that he couldnt run and get back and recieve the ball of him so he could be taken of the pitch.

As for briers he certainly knows how to wind people up he is a joke the amount of things he gets away with. without fail any oppurtunity he gets he'll make the clock run down as much as he can and at the final hooter i just wanted to go onto that pitch and show him exactly what i thought of him because the way he tried to rub in their win to the wigan fans when he should have been celebrating with his own fans if he's actually got any.

a question i want to ask though is about the judge in the goal area is he allowed to interfear as i feel he must have blatently seen the knock on for warringtons scrum but didnt seem to do anything about it and also i was told he isnt aloud to interfear and was just woundering if this was the case?

I'm guessing rather than certain that in goal touch judges only rule on what goes on in the in goal area.

The penalty. I have to be careful as I consider myself biased BUT I would like to see it on TV because it seemed Sullivan dropped the ball before Tickle got next to him. If he did not and Tickle caused him to drop it, the penalty was correct.

Mcavoy is really suspect at the start of each half re handling. Not sure why but his knock ons always come then. He rarely if ever knocks on once he is into the game. To be fair to Tickle on that penalty it could easily have been 6 points.

I think he would have struggled to. Mac tends to dive low into the contact. He was hitting the deck with the ball free and maybe only Chris Ashton onside whilst 5 or 6 Wire players were in attendance.

Mmmm, the second half was exciting because the score got close and the end was obviously a nail biter. The whole match was quite high in mistakes. Atmosphere was grreat in the Wigan end.
