I hope you're right, especially if we get him. Let's not forget thaty Craig Smith came to us with a poor disciplinary reputation - it seems the Aussie judiciary have it in for certain types of player.Vaealikis Girl posted:

As for Fui's record with the judiciary, he really isn't as bad as it makes him look. He's not a dirty player. Quite a few of the charges were very controversial, with other players getting away with much worse. It seems that his size really doesn't do him any favours in that respect. He missed our last few games because he is suspended for a high tackle, however, if you actually look at the tackle it was not high but looked a lot worse because of the force in the tackle and also because another player, Dean Widders, hit the guy around the waist at the same time jolting him back. Many of his suspensions were for similar situations
Very true. I remember the controversy over his running style and apart form once late on in his WIgna career this was never mentioned. I think even when it was mentioned that was down to his past reputation rather than a considered view.Nine posted:

Fuifui made his First Grade debut on the 18th of April, 2004, in a round 6 match against the Manly Sea-eagles at Brookvale Oval.
Fui was suspended towards the end of the 2005 season for 9 weeks for a reckless challenge on Brisbane's Berrick Barnes. Moimoi made his NRL return on Friday the 21/4/06 against the Wests Tigers. His first touch was a kick regather. He also made 2 game breaking charge downs and numerous aggressive tackles.
Fui is regarded as somewhat of a cult hero by Parramatta Eel's Supporters.
Sydney Radio Station 2GB has written a song dedicated to Fuifui Moimoi.
Fui started his career with the South Sydney Rabbitohs but spent no time in first grade.
Moimoi does not speak fluent English.
One of the things that irritates Fui the most is the misspelling of his name as Fui Fui Moi Moi instead of Fuifui Moimoi in some major newspapers.
Fui has represented New Zealand A.
Fui is contracted to the Parramatta Eels until the end of 2008.
He has been likened to Wigan Warriors prop Iafeta Paleaaesina.
The judiciary here have been questioned on more than one occasion. There's a number of players who down here we like to call "the protected species". These are players who no matter what they do they never seem to have to serve any time for it. Or in the rare occasion they do get suspended it is done in a way which could very well suit them more than disadvantage them eg. Andrew Johns. Anyone else would have gotten at least 3 weeks for his offence. 3 weeks out would have seen him miss Newcastle's first finals match considering they had one buy. Amazingly he manages to get the charge downgraded to 2 weeks which gives him a nice little rest so that he's back fresh for their first final (not that it helped). Coincidence?Nine posted:it seems the Aussie judiciary have it in for certain types of player.
You seem to have consistency, which we don't.Vaealikis Girl posted:The judiciary here have been questioned on more than one occasion. Then there's players who could probably get away with a little but may face suspension if their offence is serious.
Then there's the players who just have no chance. These are the ones who if they so much as break another players' fingernail they will be out for weeks even if others have gotten away with much worse. I happen to believe that Fui is one of these. I do recall Adrian Morley also claiming that he was one of these players.
Anyway to cut all that short, basically, our judicial system is cr@p.
He's definitely that. He made his first grade debut with the Rabbitohs and he's quite famous for an incident that took place back then. At the time he was only playing a short amount of time off the bench as he was pretty unfit and a little overweight. He showed up to training one day, trained for a little while, then started to leave. When the coach asked him what he was doing, he simply told him "i play for 10 minutes, i train for 10 minutes". I've always found this story quite amusing. I wasn't exactly laughing when we signed him but if anyone can turn a player around it's Brian Smith. In his first year at Parra he lost a large amount of weight, worked hard on his fitness, and shaped up his attitude to become a sort of cult hero around here.Nine posted:
He certainly sounds a bit of a character.
