2,000 of the free tickets may have been used, but I'd guess most were passed on to Latics fans, as I did with my four - sold them for a tenner each!

At the risk of being Fraggled, what a pile of crap.
JJB stadium probably would not exist if it wasn't for DW's desire to get the Latics into the Premiership.
Why should Warrior fans be ashamed of taking up the offer?
Is there some law that says under no circumstnces can a rugby fan like football?
I had no desire to go and as such didn't take up the offer (although I did lend a mate my ticket so he could get 2 tickets).
End of the day, what does it matter?
Where you MADE to go and watch the football?
Petty squabbles that just show the maturity of some posters on this site!

Rant over and no doubt I'll get some abuse for it, but my shoulders are broad enough to take it!

No risk of getting "fraggled", I wanted to make the exact same points when I read that message except I thought I would get accused of hypocracy if I'd used the kind of language I thought was appropriate in reply!

I don't know why Wigan Athletic supporters expect us to cheer on their team and vice-versa... why suddenly cheer a wigan premiership team when for the last decade hardly no-one bothered to turn up to their own matches? To me, just because it is 'Wigan' doesnt mean we have to support it, jump on a bandwagon now we're Athletic are in the Premiership, I have other interests in sport.

For one, I support Wigan Warriors - Rugby League, totally different. I travel home and away and always will do so (probably). I was brought up watching Rugby League in Wigan so why bother with a wigan football team?

Second, I am a huge Arsenal fan, since probably 1989 when I remember my first match on telly, involving Arsenal. I will only be interested going to the JJB to watch football when Arsenal are playing, like last season i went twice (league + carling cup) to cheer on the gooners in the East stand (cant get arsenal tickets)... I went to Highbury in the second leg and sat in the Arsenal side for the first (and last) time and was the unhappiest Wiganer at Highbury that night! I only have room for Arsenal (and maybe Bolton as they are 1 mile away).

People have different allegiances in football compared to rugby. Most wiganers support Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea (bandwagon) etc... like myself, an Arsenal fan - not arsed about Athletic and NEVER will be.

So i dont see the point when people moan and compare fans at the JJB, two different sports.

It's not a case of people abandoning the rugby to watch the Latics, people are allowed to watch both if they want. Me, you couldn't pay me to go a game of football, but that doesn't mean that just because someone supports one thing that they can't also like something else. It doesn't make you disloyal to either team.

The offer was for Warriors season ticket holders, people who have already demonstrated their loyalty by paying for their tickets upfront. I can't see any of them being so influenced by one game of rugby that they'll abandon that to watch soccer fulltime instead.

I will happily join you in not liking the Latics, but I think these "we hate the Latics, people who go and watch them are traitors" or whatever type messages are pretty ridiculous, and just the kind of thing everyone complains about when the Latics fans start coming on here saying the same things in reverse. I just ignore the wendyballers and their sport, the same way that I ignore boxing, golf, horse racing and many other sports that I have no interest in.
