Reading through the posts, and I must say against most people I will look forward to seeing Ashton in another position other than full back, he may even surprise one or two people and prove to be better in another spot. I have doubts over him ever becoming great at full back.

I called for him to be moved some time ago and perhaps Noble has listened to me.

You may be right, however he's the nearest thing we've had a decent fullback coming through the ranks since Shaun Briscoe several years ago, and before him the previous young fullback we had was Rads. It's a position we've long struggled badly to fill, having tried the likes of Desi Williams and Wes Davies there, and then wingers such as Brett Dallas, Pat Richards... even Dennis Moran. Now that we've got a young fullback who's now got a year's experience in SL and done an excellent job in this difficult position, I can't see any logic in putting him somewhere else so that in 2 years time when Withers finally retires, we're stuck without a fullback again. Keep Ashton at the back, assuming he keeps on developing as he did last season, and he'll be up there with the best of the fullbacks in SL by 2009 - both homegrown and imported - and given that he's British, it also helps the GB cause for when someone finally realises Wellens has the pace of a snail.
